Dolphins sign C Jacques McClendon with Mike Pouncey (foot) injured

Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey was carted off the field during Sunday's game against the New York Jets and was unable to return. He was spotted on the sideline wearing a walking boot for what seemed to be a severe injury.

On Monday, the Dolphins got some good news on Pouncey's injury, but it wasn't enough to prevent Miami from bringing in some insurance. Despite Pouncey being day-to-day, the Dolphins signed center Jacques McClendon on Tuesday.

McClendon has started five games since 2013, all with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Rookie guard Jamil Douglas filled in for Pouncey after he was injured, but he struggled snapping the ball and it's clear Dan Campbell would rather not put him in that position again.

To make room for McClendon, the Dolphins waived linebacker James-Michael Johnson.
