NFL Playoff Picture: Who's in, who's out as Week 17 concludes?
On the final day of the NFL's regular season, the Jets coughed away their playoff spot and the Broncos took home the ultimate prize.
A New York loss in Buffalo on Sunday coupled with a Pittsburgh win in Cleveland gave the AFC's final available wild card slot to the Steelers, while Peyton Manning and the Broncos took advantage of a New England loss to take the conference's No. 1 seed.
Denver finished 12-4 -- the same record as both the Patriots and the Bengals -- to secure home-field advantage until the Super Bowl thanks to some heroics from a familiar face. Manning entered the game in relief of a turnover-prone Brock Osweiler and helped finish off a Broncos win over the Chargers to wrap up both the AFC West and the No. 1 seed.
Elsewhere in the AFC, the Texans clinched the AFC South title and No. 4 seed with a 30-6 win over the Jaguars. The Chiefs beat the Raiders to finish 11-5 and in the No. 5 slot. The Patriots slid to No. 2 with their loss but will still enjoy a first-round bye.
In the NFC, Carolina locked up home-field advantage until the Super Bowl thanks to Arizona's blowout loss to Seattle. The Panthers finished off a win over the Buccaneers shortly thereafter to finish two games clear of the Cardinals.
Sunday night's de facto NFC North championship game went to the Minnesota Vikings. That means the Vikings get the No. 3 seed and will host the Seattle Seahawks next week. The Green Bay Packers go on the road to Washington to face the Redskins.
