Report: Veteran DT C.J. Mosley could still return to Detroit Lions

It looked as though soon-to-be 32-year-old defensive tackle C.J. Mosley and the Detroit Lions had separated for good, but a recent report by Kyle Meinke of MLive.com says a reunion is still possible.

The Lions need to replenish their interior defensive line after losing Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley to free agency. Detroit traded for Haloti Ngata to partially fill the void, but adding another experienced body in Mosley would really help.

With 129 games played (but only 31 career starts), Mosley is an ideal reserve D-tackle to have in the rotation. He has familiarity with the Lions, too, after playing for Detroit during the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

Meinke's source told him that sides could come to an agreement on a new contract as soon as next week. The source also informed him that at least one other team is interested in Mosley's services.

Mosley was suspended for two games last season after he was caught smoking marijuana in his room at the team hotel before the Lions took on the Atlanta Falcons in London, ESPN reported last November. The incident was originally thought to be blocking Mosley's chance of a return, according to MLive.com.
