Robert Griffin III to visit the New York Jets
Former Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is scheduled to visit the New York Jets on Friday. ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the news, which was confirmed by FS1 and FOX Sports Insider Mike Garafolo.
Washington released the 26-year-old former offensive rookie of the year earlier this week, spurring a great deal of speculation as to where the free-agent would land next.
Griffin's visit to the Jets comes amid reports of the New York team's inability to come to agreement with Ryan Fitzpatrick, though Garafolo reports RG3's visit is not in lieu of a potential deal with the Jets starter:
After beginning his NFL career with a hot start, RG3 started 20 games in 2013 and 2014, with the Redskins winning just five of those. He was inactive for the entire 2015 season, and the team turned to Kirk Cousins, who was given its franchise tag last week.
