Seven-time Pro Bowl WR Andre Johnson retiring after 14 seasons

Seven-time Pro Bowl receiver Andre Johnson has informed the Tennessee Titans that he’s retiring.

Johnson, 35, has been used sparingly by the Titans in his first season with the team. He hasn’t caught a pass since Week 5 and has just nine receptions for 85 yards and two touchdowns this season. He spent last season with the Colts after 12 years with the Texans, the team that drafted him third overall in 2003.

Johnson racked up seven 1,000-yard seasons with Houston, including three over 1,500 yards. He led the NFL in that category in both 2008 and 2009. He ranks ninth all-time in career receptions (1,062) and 10th in career receiving yards (14,185). At his peak, he was regarded as perhaps the NFL’s best receiver, and he will retire having had the best career in the Texans’ 15-year franchise history.
