Super Bowl moment No. 42: A high-flying act from the Greatest Show on Turf

Published Dec. 10, 2015 8:30 a.m. ET

As we count down to Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, it's time to look back on the magical and memorable moments in the 49 previous Super Bowls. FOX Sports senior NFL writer Alex Marvez has ranked the 50 greatest moments in the big game's big history, and every weekday from now until Feb. 7 we'll unveil the latest addition to our countdown. Today, we look back at moment No. 42 when the Rams took the lead in Super Bowl XXXIV for good.

The 1999 St. Louis Rams featured one of the most prolific offenses in NFL history and its explosiveness was on full display when the Rams needed it most.

After the Titans had overcome a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to tie the score at 16-16, Rams quarterback Kurt Warner connected with Isaac Bruce for a 73-yard touchdown on a play called "Twins Right Ace Right 999 H Balloon" with 1:54 remaining.

Warner set Super Bowl records for passing yards (414) and completions (45) en route to winning Most Valuable Player honors -- a remarkable feat for an obscure journeyman backup thrust into the starting lineup when Trent Green suffered a preseason knee injury.

Here are highlights from Super Bowl XXXIV.

Final score: St. Louis 23, Tennessee 16

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kevin Dyson stretches for the end zone but falls short as he is tackled by St. Louis Rams linebacker Mike Jones as time runs out.
