Brady's dad comes to son's defense amid fallout from Wells report

Tom Brady's critics are out in full force after the Wells report linked the four-time Super Bowl champion to the Patriots' Deflategate scandal. But as Brady's reputation gets thrown into question, there's one man who doesn't doubt the quarterback.

His father.

"I don't have any doubt about my son's integrity --€” not one bit," Tom Brady Sr. told USA Today on Wednesday. "In this country, you're innocent until proven guilty. It just seems Tommy is now guilty until proven innocent."

The Wells report released Wedmesday quotes text messages between Jim McNally, the officials' locker-room attendant, and John Jastremski, an equipment assistant for the Patriots. In the messages, they talk about Brady wanting the balls deflated to a certain amount in exchange for money, sneakers and autograph footballs.

But Brady's dad refuses to believe his son had a hand in this situation.

"This thing is so convoluted. ... They say that possibly -- possibly -- he was aware of this. The reality is if you can't prove he did it, then he's innocent, and lay off him. That's the bottom line."

Brady Sr. asserted that the investigation's findings had more to do with the league's image than seeking the truth.

"The league had to cover themselves," Brady Sr said. "The reality is they had no conclusive evidence.

"This was Framegate right from the beginning."
