Impact Hockenson tied for second on the team with five targets, but turned in his second-lowest yardage total of the season. He salvaged his day with a one-yard touchdown, his third of the campaign. Although Hockenson topped 50 yards in his first three games, he has combined to total 26 yards across the last two contests. He'll look to get things back on track in Week 7 in a positive matchup against Atlanta.

Finds end zone on quiet day Hockenson caught two of four targets for nine yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 35-29 loss to the Saints. He also caught a two-point conversion.
Impact Hockenson was mostly held quiet by a Saints defense that had been the weakest in the league at defending tight ends coming into the game, though the second-year pro was able to salvage his day with a one-yard touchdown in the third quarter. His two-point conversion capped the scoring, as Detroit never got the ball back after pulling within six with 3:40 to go. Hockenson has caught 15 of 20 targets for 180 yards and two touchdowns heading into Detroit's Week 5 bye.

Impact Hockenson remained a focal point in the passing game despite the return of Golladay, who tied with Hockenson for the team lead in targets. As only one tight end in the league (Noah Fant) currently has a higher passer rating when targeted than Hockenson's gaudy measure of 155.8, per Pro Football Focus, there's a case to be made that Hockenson should be more involved going forward. However, there could also be more days when the Lions opt to pound the rock 22 times with Adrian Peterson, whose heavy usage at the expense of second-round pick D'Andre Swift suggests Detroit was trying to stick to the running game. The chances of the Lions being able to control the clock Week 4 seem low against a Saints team that has allowed the fifth-fewest yards per carry in the league through three weeks.

Impact The absences of Kenny Golladay (hamstring) and Halapoulivaati Vaitai (foot) seem to have thrown a wrench in the Lions' offensive plans. While Hockenson has secured all nine of the passes sent his way through two weeks, he's only seen one target in the red zone, and his overall upside is likely capped as long as the Lions offense continues to struggle. If Golladay, in particular, remains out Week 3, expectations for Hockenson should remain capped despite a seemingly inviting matchup with the Cardinals. Even though the Arizona defense was notoriously poor at defending tight ends in 2019, the retooled unit has only allowed 11 receptions for 84 yards and no scores through two weeks.

Should Golladay remain sidelined in Week 2, Hockenson will have another chance of seeing an expanded workload in a potentially high-scoring game against Green Bay.

Back to 100 percent Hockenson said Thursday that he's "100 percent" healthy after he underwent season-ending right ankle surgery last December, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Hockenson was already assumed to be healthy entering the season after he wasn't included on the first 2020 injury report the Lions released Wednesday, but it's at least encouraging that the tight end confirmed he's back to full strength after he admitted in mid-August that he wasn't quite back to 100 percent. The 2019 first-round pick will head into his sophomore season as the Lions' starting tight end, and the high-end athleticism he packs into his 6-foot-5, 251-pound frame should give him a decent chance to emerge as a top-10 fantasy option at his position.
