Won't be activated for opener Martin (illness) won't be reinstated from the reserve/COVID-19 list prior to Thursday's season opener against the Buccaneers, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports. Impact Martin tested positive for the virus over the weekend, but because the right guard was fully vaccinated, head coach Mike McCarthy left the door open for the remote possibility that six-time Pro Bowler might play Week 1. The quick turnaround for a Thursday ultimately proved to be too much for Martin, who would have needed to be completely asymptomatic while producing two negative COVID-19 test results at least 24 hours apart. Martin will now turn his focus to getting healthy in advance of the Week 2 matchup with the Chargers on Sept. 19, while Connor McGovern picks up the start at right guard in the opener.
