Rickard Rakell - Secures assist in loss Rakell notched an assist and two shots on goal in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Canucks.
Impact Rakell's touch-pass in the neutral zone set up Evgeni Malkin for a third-period tally. Through 10 appearances, Rakell has four goals, two assists, 22 shots on net, 15 hits and 10 blocked shots. He started the game on Sidney Crosby's line but moved back with Malkin after Bryan Rust (lower body) left the game with an injury. Rakell can be streaky, but he's been fairly solid to begin 2024-25.

Anthony Beauvillier - Earns two points in loss Beauvillier scored a goal, dished an assist and added three hits in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Canucks.
Impact Beauvillier had gone seven games without a point after a two-goal game versus the Red Wings on Oct. 10. He was able to make an impact against one of the three teams he suited up for last season after moving onto a line with Evgeni Malkin. Beauvillier has four points, 27 shots on net, 12 hits and a plus-1 rating through 10 appearances, though it's still not clear where he fits in the Penguins' lineup in the long run.

Evgeni Malkin - Stands out in loss Malkin scored a goal on two shots, added two assists, blocked two shots and went plus-2 in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Canucks.
Impact Malkin nearly hurt himself on his goal, as his momentum carried him into the post and boards after he blew past the Canucks' defense. The 38-year-old has been a boom-or-bust player so far, with five multi-point efforts and five scoreless outings over 10 games. Even with streaky scoring, he has three goals, 14 points, 18 shots on net, eight blocked shots and a minus-3 rating this season. Malkin is locked in as the No. 2 center, and he's been one of few bright spots for the Penguins early in the campaign.

Alex Nedeljkovic - Blitzed in second period Nedeljkovic stopped 30 of 34 shots in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Canucks.
Impact The Penguins led 2-0 until the Canucks flipped the script with three goals in a span of 1:05 in the second period. Arshdeep Bains then scored a few minutes later, and that sent the Penguins to a fifth straight loss. Nedeljkovic has been in net for three of them, going 0-2-1 with 12 goals allowed on 95 shots this season. The Penguins' next game is Tuesday at home versus the Wild, and at this point, fantasy managers may want to steer clear of Pittsburgh's crease given the team's overall struggles.

Impact Rust was run into the boards in the third period by Vancouver's Nils Hoglander, and it appeared the Pittsburgh winger may have injured his knee. The Penguins were quick to rule him out for the rest of the game, which could be a bad sign for his availability moving forward. They return home for their next game versus the Wild on Tuesday, so an update on Rust's injury should be announced before that contest.

Impact This is a bit of a surprise as the Penguins only gave Jarry three games this season, after he was their No. 1 goaltender the past three seasons. Granted, Jarry got off to a horrible start, giving up 12 goals on 73 shots (.836 save percentage), but the Penguins were not able to be patient with him as they are 3-5-1 to start the season. The Penguins will rely on Alex Nedeljkovic and Joel Blomqvist in Jarry's absence.

Impact Blomqvist didn't stand much of a chance with the Penguins getting out-shot 50-27 in the game, including a lopsided second period that saw the Oilers break through. The Penguins' leaky defense has made it tough for any of the team's goalies to shine, though Blomqvist has often looked better than Tristan Jarry or Alex Nedeljkovic. Through five games, Blomqvist is 2-3-0 with 16 goals allowed on 180 shots. Nedeljkovic is likely to start Saturday in Vancouver, and Jarry could re-enter the mix next week, but none of Pittsburgh's goalies should be rostered on a full-time basis in most fantasy formats until the team in front of them improves significantly.
