Jacob MacDonald - Remains out Saturday MacDonald (lower body) won't be activated from IR for Saturday's game versus Buffalo, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Impact It'll be the 15th game MacDonald's missed since he was placed on injured reserve Dec. 27. The 30-year-old blueliner had six goals and seven points in 17 contests this season. MacDonald's next chance to suit up will come Tuesday against the Kraken.

Henry Thrun - Placed on IR Thrun (shoulder) was added to injured reserve Saturday, Max Miller of The Hockey News reports.

Impact Thrun suffered an apparent shoulder injury in Tuesday's win over the Rangers. The 22-year-old blueliner will now be sidelined until the Sharks return from the All-Star break on Feb. 14. Thrun has a goal and two assists through 23 games in his rookie campaign. Ty Emberson was activated from IR in a corresponding move.

Impact Emberson has a goal, seven points, 43 hits and 30 blocks in 21 games in 2023-24. He's projected to serve on the top pairing alongside Marc-Edouard Vlasic while Calen Addison will likely be a healthy scratch.

Impact Mukhamadullin was the big piece the Sharks wanted from New Jersey when they sent Timo Meier to the Devils 11 months ago. The 22-yearold was selected 20th overall in 2020. Mukhamadullin had five goals and 26 points in 39 AHL games before his recall. He could replace Kyle Burroughs on the Sharks blue line when they face Buffalo on Saturday.

Filip Zadina - Pockets assist Tuesday Zadina notched an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers.

Impact Zadina has managed three points over his last seven contests, but his overall poor play has seen him fall into a highly limited role on the fourth line. The 24-year-old is at 13 points, 76 shots on net, 24 hits and a minus-26 rating through 43 appearances. Zadina's failed to score enough to justify a roster spot on most fantasy squads.

Alexander Barabanov - Nabs assist Tuesday Barabanov recorded an assist and two shots on goal in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers.

Impact Barabanov helped out on Tomas Hertl's game-winning tally in overtime. The helper was Barabanov's second assist during his active nine-game goal drought. The 29-year-old winger hasn't been as effective this season as in previous years, picking up a modest nine points with 43 shots on net and a minus-16 rating through 28 appearances.

Jan Rutta - Two assists in overtime win Rutta provided two assists, three blocked shots and two PIM in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers.

Impact Rutta is warm right now, earning four points over the last three games, all wins for the Sharks. He played a key role Tuesday, setting up Ryan Carpenter for the game-tying goal in the third period and Tomas Hertl for the game-winner in overtime. Rutta has 10 points, 38 shots on net, 68 blocked shots, 36 hits, 18 PIM and a minus-11 rating through 42 appearances. The 33-year-old may see a larger role while Mario Ferraro (undisclosed) is out.

Impact Carpenter is surprisingly on a four-game point streak (two goals, two assists), with his latest contribution being the third-period equalizer for the Sharks against his former team. The 33-year-old forward plays on San Jose's fourth line, so any offense is a welcome sight for him. Overall, Carpenter has nine points, 31 shots on net, 23 hits, 18 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over 31 appearances.

Nico Sturm - Capitalizes on turnover Sturm scored a goal in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers.

Impact Sturm has a goal and two assists over three games since he returned from an abdominal injury. The 28-year-old picked off a pass and banked in his shot from behind the net to get the Sharks on the board in the third period Tuesday. Sturm plays in a bottom-six role, so his offense is likely to recede eventually. For the season, he has seven points, 31 shots on net, 16 hits, 22 blocked shots and a minus-8 rating through 29 appearances.

Tomas Hertl - Completes comeback in overtime Hertl scored the game-winning goal and added three shots on net in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers.

Impact Hertl tallied 1:29 into the extra session to complete the Sharks' comeback win. The 30-year-old has two goals and two assists over his last three games, and it's possible some of the opponents' attention may be off of Hertl now that Logan Couture is in the lineup. Hertl is up to 15 goals, 34 points, 112 shots on net, 46 blocked shots, 38 hits, 22 PIM and a minus-25 rating through 47 appearances. He remains the Sharks' top overall forward.

Mackenzie Blackwood - Backstops comeback win Blackwood stopped 29 of 31 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers.

Impact Blackwood gave up a goal in each of the first two periods before shutting the door long enough for the Sharks to rally for a comeback win. The 27-year-old has won three of his last five outings, allowing 14 goals in that span. He's unlikely to keep winning frequently, but playing behind the Sharks' defense sans Mario Ferraro (undisclosed) likely means a lot of pucks will be heading Blackwood's direction. For the season, Blackwood is 7-17-3 with a 3.63 GAA and an .896 save percentage through 31 appearances.
