Impact Emberson has helpers in back-to-back games after assisting on an Alexander Barabanov tally Thursday. Somewhat quietly, Emberson has stepped up as a key part of the Sharks' defense, taking on a top-pairing role. He's up to six points, 18 shots on net, 40 hits, 25 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating through 19 appearances. He doesn't see much power-play time, so the 23-year-old is unlikely to carry value in most fantasy formats, but he's doing a fine job defensively in his rookie year.

William Eklund - Records assist Thursday Eklund posted an assist in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Jets.
Impact Eklund reached the 10-assist mark when he set up an Alexander Barabanov tally in the second period. The helper snapped a five-game point drought for Eklund. Those swings of hot and cold play on offense are likely to continue as the 21-year-old winger adapts to his top-line role in a weak offense. For the season, he's produced 17 points, 60 shots on net, 35 blocked shots and a minus-19 rating through 38 appearances.

Alexander Barabanov - Tallies again Thursday Barabanov scored a goal on three shots in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Jets.
Impact Barabanov opened the scoring at 10:26 of the second period, but the Sharks' lead lasted just over a minute before the Jets tied it again. With two goals in January, he's already exceeded his tallies from December. Barabanov was on the verge of becoming a healthy scratch last month, and his bottom-six role in a weak offense isn't good for his fantasy value. This season, he's managed seven points, 28 shots on net and a minus-13 rating through 19 appearances.

Mackenzie Blackwood - Holds his own in loss Blackwood stopped 28 of 30 shots in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Jets.
Impact Blackwood kept the Jets off the board for over half of the game. A tipped-in shot and a crisp passing play led to the two goals on his line, and the Sharks couldn't cover it. The 27-year-old goalie hadn't played since before Christmas due to an illness and then a couple of starts for Kaapo Kahkonen. Blackwood is 4-15-2 with a 3.84 GAA and an .891 save percentage through 24 outings. The Sharks have lost 10 straight games, so the next goalie to get a win may get a chance to claim the No. 1 job, as neither Blackwood nor Kahkonen have been all that inspiring lately.
