Impact In a strange and rare twist, Matthews also fought Steven Stamkos in the third period after the Bolts' center started throwing punches. It was the first time in NHL history that two 60-goal players had ever fought each other. Impact It wasn't Samsonov's best game, especially early. But then he buckled down and made some sharp saves in overtime against the Bolts snipers. To be honest, it was a bit of a show me, show them game for Samsonov, who will likely be buoyed by proving he can win even when he's not at his best. His overall ratios (3.70 GAA and .878 save percentage) are unimpressive, but he has the Leafs up 2-1 in the series. And at this point in the season, wins are better than individual stats.

Impact Marner leads the NHL with eight points (two goals, six assists) in three games this postseason. Impact Ryan O'Reilly won a draw cleanly deep in the Bolts zone and Rielly lofted a wrister from the point that went over Andrei Vasilevskiy's blocker shoulder at 19:15 of the extra frame. It was a rough night for the defender, who was jumped in the third by Nikita Kucherov who took exception to a play that injured Brayden Point. Rielly was bloodied in the melee and ended up playing the remainder of the game with a cotton plug in one nostril to staunch the bleeding. Point ultimately returned, but Rielly will be at the top of the most-wanted list in Game 4.

Impact The kid hasn't been overwhelmed in making the jump from the NCAA to the NHL playoffs. In fact, Knies may have been the best Leaf on the ice Saturday. His speed and strength were on display on every shift, and he spent most of the game on the top lines. Remember Knies' name next draft -- he could vie for the Calder trophy next season, especially if he gets a permanent gig in the top six. And that's even with Connor Bedard headed to the NHL.
