FOX Sports and MLB Commemorate “The Sandlot” Anniversary with LEGENDS NEVER DIE: THE SANDLOT STORY
NEW YORK – “The Sandlot,” a film that has transcended generations of those who love the game of baseball, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. FOX Sports Films and Major League Baseball commemorate the instant 90s classic with a lookback documentary, LEGENDS NEVER DIE: THE SANDLOT STORY, directed by David Terry Fine (30 for 30: Hit it Hard) and produced by Matador Content. The film makes its network television debut Saturday, Aug. 18 at 10:00 PM ET on FS1, immediately following FOX Sports’ coverage of St. Louis Cardinals vs. Milwaukee Brewers.
LEGENDS NEVER DIE: THE SANDLOT STORY features exclusive interviews with the film’s writer/director David Mickey Evans and members of the original cast as they discuss how the film came to be, reflect on memories from select scenes and give insight as to why this is story continues to resonate with viewers today.
“Either you were one of those characters or you wanted to be one of those characters,” said Evans.
The documentary is also highlighted by original, behind-the-scenes videos and interviews from “The Sandlot” set, as well as cameos from athletes and pop-culture icons.
