New York – Deep in the heart of Texas, the stars at night are big and bright – and are set to appear on Saturday’s two-hour edition of FOX COLLEGE FOOTBALL PREGAME. Coverage of the Red River Showdown between No. 19 Texas and No. 7 Oklahoma begins live from the State Fair of Texas at 10:00 AM ET on FS1 and continues at 11:00 AM ET on FS1 and the FOX broadcast network.
Country music star Toby Keith and WWE legend Jim Ross, both diehard Sooners fans, and Roger Clemens, one of MLB’s all-time great pitchers and a highly decorated member of the Longhorns baseball program, are special guests on the two-hour program. FOX College Football broadcaster and former Oklahoma and Dallas Cowboys star running back DeMarco Murray also makes appearances on set before flying to Tucson, where he is on the call for Cal at Arizona at 10:00 PM ET on FS1 alongside Justin Kutcher and Petros Papadakis. Keith, Ross, Clemens and Murray join host Rob Stone and analysts Matt Leinart, Robert Smith and Dave Wannstedt outside Cotton Bowl Stadium on Lone Star Boulevard between the Texas Hall of State and the Esplanade.
“We are excited to welcome these four giants in the sports and entertainment industries as guests on Saturday,” said Mark Silverman, FOX Sports President, National Networks. “As some of Texas and Oklahoma’s biggest and most recognizable fans, we are looking forward to the energy and enthusiasm they will bring to our already star-studded show. We’d especially like to thank DeMarco for pulling double duty, getting up early to spend his morning with us in Dallas before hitting the road to call a game in Arizona that night.”
In addition to Keith, Ross, Clemens and Murray, FOX Sports previously announced former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops and former Texas quarterback Vince Young will join FOX COLLEGE PREGAME for select segments during the two-hour program. Once the game kicks off at 12:00 PM ET on the FOX broadcast network, FOX Sports lead play-by-play announcer Gus Johnson, analyst Joel Klatt and Jenny Taft call the action.
FOX Sports also presents complete coverage of the Red River Showdown on the FOX Sports app, as well as complementary digital coverage beginning with a special edition of Klatt’s Facebook Live show, “Breaking the Huddle presented by Dr Pepper,” on Friday, Oct. 5, from the on-site studio. During the game on Saturday, FOX Sports’ digital offerings include Field Pass content, exclusive PROcast videos, “Gus Johnson’s Call of the Game” and more. After the final whistle, Klatt gives his postgame thoughts on Facebook Live from the broadcast booth, while Taft wraps up the day’s action on “CFB Now presented by Wendy’s,” exclusively on Twitter.
