UFC Champion Tyron Woodley and Retired Champ Michael Bisping Join Host Karyn Bryant for FOX Sports UFC 229: KHABIB VS. MCGREGOR Programming Friday and Saturday
Former UFC Champion Dominick Cruz and Joe Rogan Join Jon Anik To Call UFC 229 Saturday
LOS ANGELES – Today, FOX Sports announces UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping join lead UFC host Karyn Bryant for FOX Sports’ coverage of UFC 229: KHABIB VS. MCGREGOR on Friday, Oct. 5 and Saturday, Oct. 6 live in Las Vegas. Megan Olivi adds reports and interviews fighters on-site.
Former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz joins blow-by-blow announcer Jon Anik and veteran MMA analyst Joe Rogan to call UFC 229 live Octagon-side in Las Vegas Saturday. In addition, top-ranked welterweight Santiago Ponzinibbio, bantamweight Marlon “Chito” Vera, and Victor Davila call the fights in Spanish on FOX Deportes.
One of the most anticipated fights in UFC history will take place in Las Vegas on Saturday. “The Notorious” Conor McGregor (21-3) returns in an attempt to regain the UFC lightweight title from unbeaten champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 229. At 26-0, Russia’s Nurmagomedov has been unbeatable as a pro. His recent wins against Michael Johnson, Edson Barboza and Al Iaquinta have only strengthened his place as one of the greatest lightweights of all time. But Ireland’s McGregor, the first man to hold two UFC titles simultaneously, has made a career of achieving what some say is impossible. He plans on putting a “1” in Nurmagomedov’s loss column, while taking back the belt he never lost in the Octagon.
FOX Sports UFC 229 programming begins with UFC TONIGHT Wednesday, Oct. 3 (8:00 PM ET) on FS1, when hosts Kenny Florian and Daniel Cormier break down Khabib vs. McGregor and interview both fighters. They’ll also talk to the No. 2-ranked lightweight Tony Ferguson about his co-main event against former champion Anthony Pettis.
FOX Sports’ coverage goes live from Las Vegas on Friday, Oct. 5 (8:00 PM ET), with the UFC 229 WEIGH-IN SHOW on FS1 and the FOX Sports app with Bryant, Bisping and Woodley discussing the fights, while Olivi reports onsite. On Saturday, the same crew hosts the UFC 229 PREFIGHT SHOW on FS1 and the FOX Sports app (7:00 PM ET), showcasing the evening’s action.
The two-hour UFC 229 PRELIMS begin at 8:00 PM ET on FS1, FOX Deportes, and the FOX Sports app with four exciting bouts. The No. 2-ranked flyweight Sergio Pettis (17-3) battles No. 5 Jussier Formiga (21-5). Vicente Luque (13-6-1) tangles with Jalin Turner (6-3), while No. 9 bantamweight Aspen Ladd (6-0) faces Tonya Evinger (19-6, 1NC). Plus, Scott Holtzman (11-2) and Alan Patrick (15-1) square off at 155 pounds in the exciting PRELIMS opener.
The evening wraps immediately following the main event with the UFC 229 POSTFIGHT SHOW on FS2 and the FOX Sports app, where Bryant, Woodley, Bisping and Olivi recap the highlights and interview fighters.
Leading up to the fights, the FOX Sports UFC digital team will be on the ground in Las Vegas capturing all the events from press conference, open workouts and more and on the @UFConFOX social pages. In addition, all programs are also available on FOX Sports on SiriusXM channel 83 on satellite radio and on the SiriusXM app.
