FOX’s BIG NOON SATURDAY Pulls in Rivalry Game’s Best Viewership in a Decade
BIG NOON KICKOFF Draws Season-High Numbers
NEW YORK – No. 6 Oklahoma’s 34-27 win over No. 11 Texas in the Red River Showdown pulled in 7,252,000 viewers Saturday on FOX, according to Nielsen Media Research. The game is the most-watched sporting event of the day and FOX’s most-watched college football game of the season.
Viewership for the 2019 Red River Showdown is up +29% over last year’s last-second thriller and is the rivalry game’s best television performance since 2009. The matchup is also FOX Sports’ most-watched Big 12 game ever, the network’s fifth most-watched regular-season college football game all-time, and the third most-watched college football game on any network so far this season. Overall, college football viewership on FOX is up +27% over a season ago, while viewership for college football on FOX in the Noon ET window is up +30% year-over-year.
Prior to the game, FOX presented a special edition of BIG NOON KICKOFF live from the State Fair of Texas. The program averaged 1,242,000 viewers over two hours, including a season-high 1,684,000 viewers during the 11:00 AM-12:00 PM ET hour.
FOX Sports’ college football coverage continues as No. 4 Ohio State visits Northwestern on Friday on FS1. Pregame coverage begins at 7:30 PM ET. The following day, No. 5 Oklahoma welcomes West Virginia for a BIG NOON SATURDAY clash beginning at 11:00 AM ET with BIG NOON KICKOFF on FOX.
