FOX Sports Ready for “The Big Go”

FOX NHRA U.S. Nationals Coverage Highlighted by Sunday’s Five Hours of Live Programming Across FOX & FS1

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Brian Lohnes and two-time Funny Car champion Tony Pedregon are on the call as FOX Sports delivers an expanded package of live coverage from this weekend’s 66th running of the Denso Spark Plugs U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis.

Highlighted by Sunday’s five hours of live programming across FOX, FS1 and the new FOX Sports app, coverage of the race referred to as “The Big Go” begins Saturday, Sept. 5 (2:00 to 4:00 PM ET) on FS1, with Qualifying sessions from the historic Indy track. Saturday evening Qualifying on FS1 (10:00 PM ET to midnight) sets the field for Sunday’s Final Eliminations. The two-hour program also includes the rain-delayed Finals from Indy 2 in Top Fuel and Funny Car.

Sunday’s five-hour Finals coverage begins at 11:00 AM ET on FS1, before moving to the FOX broadcast network at 2:00 PM ET for the final three hours of competition.

Since resuming the season, the NHRA has run all events at Lucas Oil Raceway, giving competitors quite a bit of information to draw from as they prepare for drag racing’s biggest event.

“For NHRA competitors, the U.S. Nationals looms perhaps larger than ever, despite the fact that the scenery is so familiar,” Lohnes said. “With multiple events having been run at Lucas Oil Raceway, the stage is set for what might be the hardest version of the race in history to win. Teams have more runs, data and experience on this surface than ever before. With increased spectator numbers and big fields, it’s a race of enormous consequence and the competitors surely feel that.”

“If drivers haven’t realized it yet, they will be reminded that there is only one U.S. Nationals, and unlike any of the prior three races that have been contested in 2020, none will compare,” Pedregon added. “The energy, along with the volume of cars, classes and specialty races that converge at this event is among the reasons the U.S. Nationals stands alone as the single biggest race in the entire sport.”
