Leinart says a college football Halloween Saturday has all the makings for a few upsets:
“There’s one or two every year in college football – upset Saturday. It’s Halloween. It feels like that. You have Oklahoma State, you have Ohio State, you have Cincinnati – all top-10 teams that have tough matchups today. Get ready for a wild Saturday.”
Meyer says the adversity presented by the 2020 season also offers opportunities:
“2020 will go down in the history books as the year of adversity. A bizarre year. With adversity comes opportunity. Look at the Big Ten West, what’s happening. Wisconsin, the best team probably in the Big Ten West, is out – they’re going to miss a game because of COVID. And you’ve got Minnesota 0-2, Iowa 0-1. Who’s going to [come out on top] – maybe it’s Northwestern.”

Meyer says USC and Arizona State playing next weekend at 9:00 AM local time in the BIG NOON SATURDAY game of the week is a big opportunity:
“Bold move and right move. That’s the right thing to do.”
“When I was at Utah, we took every Thursday and Friday game. Why? We didn’t necessarily love doing it because of short work weeks and all that, but the country had to see us.”
“The Pac-12 has to play well, because now the whole country will be watching USC-Arizona State next week.”
Bush says national perception and big wins are important for the Pac-12 in an abbreviated season:
“I think the most interesting part for the Pac-12 is how do they compete for a Playoff spot with only six games? I think ‘no room for error’ is an understatement. You actually have to beat every team by 20 or more points, and that still may not be enough to get you into a Playoff spot because there’s not a lot of respect for the Pac-12 right now. I love the fact that USC and Arizona State are going to play this early game because that’s going to give them that national attention.”

Bush says Oklahoma State’s offense makes the Cowboys a Big 12 contender:
“When you have weapons like that at Oklahoma State, and you get that kind of production – that kind of play – who is going to stop them in the Big 12?”
Leinart praises the Cowboys defense:
“It’s feast or famine. They’re aggressive; they play tight; they do 1-on-1 on the outside. They’ll give up some plays, but they are doing a great job getting off the field, and it’s because of all those different looks you see.”
