FA Cup and UEFA Champions League Finals Take Center Stage on FOX and FOX Deportes
FA Cup and UEFA Champions League, Europe’s elite soccer competitions, conclude their 2014-2015 seasons with two of the year’s most anticipated finals on FOX broadcast network and FOX Deportes. Both matches come in the early stage of FOX Sports’ “Summer of Soccer,” which features almost 200 live televised matches in the 106 days between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Action begins this weekend with the FA Cup final as Arsenal attempts to defeat Aston Villa to win its 12th title, which would be the most won by a team in FA Cup history. This encounter marks the first FA Cup final appearance for Aston Villa in 15 years, and 58 years since it won its last FA Cup title. The two clubs clash live on Saturday, May 30, with coverage beginning at 12:00 PM ET on FOX broadcast network and FOX Deportes. On FOX, Rob Stone hosts pregame, halftime and postgame coverage alongside analysts Alexi Lalas, Eric Wynalda and Warren Barton from the FOX Network Center in Los Angeles. Renowned play-by-play announcer Martin Tyler is set to call the match alongside analyst Stewart Robson, while Brad Friedel reports the latest news from historic Wembley Stadium in London. On FOX Deportes, John Laguna calls the action alongside analyst Mariano Trujillo.
The following Saturday, all eyes turn to Berlin as the German capital prepares to host the UEFA Champions League final. Italian giant Juventus and Spanish powerhouse Barcelona, two historically dominant clubs, square off to determine Europe’s champion for the 2014-2015 season. Coverage of the championship match, live from Olympiastadion, is scheduled for Saturday, June 6 on FOX broadcast network and FOX Deportes beginning at 2:00 PM ET. On FOX, Tyler partners with analyst Alan Smith and Friedel live from the stadium with Stone, Lalas, Wynalda and Barton in the Los Angeles studio. Immediately following UEFA Champions League coverage, the four studio personalities fly directly to Vancouver and arrive in time to appear on FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP TONIGHT on FOX Sports 1 (2:00 AM ET) to recap the first day of tournament action. On FOX Deportes, Trujillo and Laguna are joined by Claudio Suarez and Alvaro Izquierdo to call the action live on site with Ariel Torrone from Los Angeles.
