FOX Sports’ Summer of Soccer Continues When U.S Men Looks to Upset Germany on FOX Sports 1
Fresh off its stunning 4-3 comeback win in Holland last Friday (6/5), the U.S. Men’s National Team looks to pull off back-to-back major upsets when it travels to Cologne to face defending world champion Germany on Wednesday, June 10, with coverage kicking off on FOX Sports 1 at 2:00 PM ET.
The match, the first between the countries since the Germans defeated the Americans, 1-0, at the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil, serves as an important tune-up for the U.S. leading into next month’s crucial CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament. That event, every match of which airs on FOX, FOX Sports 1 or FOX Sports 2, decides which team represents the region at the prestigious 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia.
John Strong handles play-by-play duties for the match, alongside recently-retired former USMNT goalkeeper Brad Friedel.
The comprehensive 30-minute pregame show originates live from FOX Sports’ state-of-the-art FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP 2015™ studio in Vancouver. Rob Stone hosts alongside former USMNT stars Alexi Lalas, Stuart Holden, Eric Wynalda and former German Women’s National Team stalwart and current FOX Sports FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP 2015™ analyst Ariane Hingst.
Joining the analysts and making his FOX Sports debut is Arne Friedrich, a former German Men’s National Team defender who represented his country 82 times and also played for Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire.
In addition, FOX Sports 1 adds a special edition of FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP TONIGHT on Wednesday night at 12:00 AM ET/9:00 PM PT. In addition to the studio personalities above, Kate Abdo and former Canadian star Christine Latham also contribute.
FOX Sports’ Summer of Soccer then continues on Thursday, June 11 as action resumes in the FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP 2015™ with four matches, including Germany’s first game since its tournament-opening 10-0 thrashing of Ivory Coast. The following day, the U.S. Women’s National Team returns to action in a high-profile showdown against fellow world soccer power Sweden in Winnipeg, live on local FOX stations.
