NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES Finale from Sonoma Headlines Loaded Live Racing Weekend
FOX Sports wraps up its portion of the NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES race season with live coverage of a critical event for drivers still trying to fight their way into the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Live coverage from the Sonoma Raceway road course gets underway Friday, June 26 on FOX Sports 2 (3:00 PM ET) with practice. FOX Sports’ weekend programming culminates with live race coverage on Sunday, June 28 (3:00 PM ET) on FOX Sports 1 with pre-race coverage on a 90-minute edition of NASCAR RACEDAY (2:00 PM ET) on FOX Sports 1.
Four-time champion Jeff Gordon, who is retiring after this season and moving into the FOX NASCAR television booth in 2016, is still looking for his first win of the season, but his history at the 1.99-mile road course — the first road course of the NASCAR season — offers an opportunity for the California native.
“You can’t ignore his stats at Watkins Glen and Sonoma, where he has a combined nine wins,” said NASCAR Hall-of-Fame driver and FOX NASCAR analyst Darrell Waltrip. “You’ll have to go through Gordon to win at a road course. We have to throw AJ Allmendinger, Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski into that conversation, but Jeff Gordon is the king of the road courses in my book.”
FOX Sports remains the exclusive home of the NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES for the rest of the season, and popular programs NASCAR RACE HUB and NASCAR RACEDAY continue delivering the stories behind the racing all season long.
In other motor sports action, the inaugural season of the fully electric FIA FORMULA E CHAMPIONSHIP comes to a close at London’s Battersea Park with a Saturday/Sunday doubleheader on the 2.99-km, 17-turn course. Both races are carried live on FOX Sports GO, the critically acclaimed app that provides live streaming video of FOX Sports content at home or on the go.
