FOX Sports 1 and Major League Soccer present GERRARD AND LAMPARD IN AMERICA, an inside look Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, two English soccer giants about to embark on next phase of their storied careers in the United States. The 30-minute MLS Insider Special Edition airs Thursday, July 16 (9:30 PM ET) on FOX Sports 1.
After spending the majority of their professional soccer lives in England, Gerrard with Liverpool and Lampard primarily with Chelsea, the program, produced by nine-time Sports Emmy Award winner Hock Films, follows the English heavyweights as they transition into the next phase of their prolific careers, Gerrard with the defending MLS Cup Champion LA Galaxy, while Lampard joins newly-minted New York City FC. The pair suit up as teammates, playing in the 2015 AT&T MLS All-Star Game, Wednesday, July 29, with coverage beginning at 8:00 PM ET on FOX Sports 1, as MLS All-Stars face off against the Premier League’s Tottenham Hotspur at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo.
Gerrard and Lampard were named All-Stars earlier this week as MLS Commissioner Don Garber’s picks. The Commissioner’s selections and the MLS Fan XI, voted on by MLS supporters, were unveiled Monday during FOX Sports 1’s CONCACAF Gold Cup coverage and feature three of the league’s most prominent international stars as well as eight U.S. National Team veterans. First-year MLS players Kaka of Orlando City SC and David Villa of New York City FC were voted in along with Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando, Seattle Sounders forward Clint Dempsey, LA Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez and Sporting Kansas City midfielder Graham Zusi. The gameday roster, chosen by MLS All-Star head coach Pablo Mastroeni of the Colorado Rapids, is announced Saturday, July 18.
The 2015 MLS AT&T All-Star Game is part of FOX Sports’ Summer of Soccer, which features more than 200 live matches between Memorial Day and Labor Day, including the FIFA Women’s World Cup™, the UEFA Champions League Final, the FA Cup, the UEFA Europa League Final, the CONCACAF Gold Cup, Major League Soccer matches every Sunday, the International Champions Cup, the debut of the Bundesliga on FOX Sports 1, the FA Community Shield, the Copa Libertadores Final and additional matches featuring both the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams.
