NFL on FOX Posts Best Week 1 Singleheader on Record
The NFL’s season opening drive was titled “Back to Football,” and back they came by the tens of millions to watch the NFL on FOX on Sunday.
FOX NFL’s season opening slate, which featured regionalized coverage of five games highlighted by the Green Bay Packers’ 31-23 victory over the Chicago Bears carried in almost half the nation, ranks as the most-watched NFL Week 1 singleheader on record, extending back to 1988, according to fast national figures released by Nielsen. FOX’s coverage posted an 11.6 household rating with a 26 share, averaging 20.1 million viewers. Other matchups Sunday (9/13) on FOX were: Seattle at St. Louis, Carolina at Jacksonville, New Orleans at Arizona and Detroit at San Diego.
FOX NFL Week 1 Singleheader Highlights:
– Ties with 2000 as the highest-rated Week 1 NFL singleheader on any network since 1994.
– Compared to last season’s opening singleheader, 2015 is +17% in rating and +22% in audience vs. the comparable singleheader on CBS (9.9, 16.5 million).
– FOX NFL’s Week 1 singleheader is the network’s highest-rated broadcast since the 2015 NFC Championship (27.4 HH rating).
– FOX NFL’s Week 1 singleheader is FOX’s most-watched program since the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015™ Final in July (22.3 million viewers).
