FS1 and FOX Deportes Televise MLS Decision Day Match
In Major League Soccer’s 20th season, #DecisionDay has become a reality, and FS1 and FOX Deportes have selected the match to televise nationally on Sunday, Oct. 25, the final day of the MLS regular season.
FS1 and FOX Deportes have elected to televise the key Eastern Conference match-up between the Columbus Crew SC and D.C. United, currently the second- and third-place teams in the East, at 5:00 PM ET, live from MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. A win by either side would secure the second and final direct entry to the Eastern Conference Semifinal round, while the losing team would have a quick turn-around to play a Knockout Round match days later.
MLS #DecisionDay builds excitement for the final matches of the regular season by placing them into two action-packed windows on the same day. Four Eastern Conference teams play each other at 5:00 PM ET, while the New York Red Bulls-Chicago Fire match plus the five matches from the Western Conference begin at 7 PM ET.
Coverage plans include constant look-ins to the other matches that kickoff simultaneously during their window, with an eye on how the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs brackets look based on real-time scores. FOX Sports also offers a dedicated “COACH CAM” to capture all the action and emotion from the coaches and benches of both teams. On the digital front, FOXSports.com provides behind-the-scenes content captured by the PROcast app, from many of the players across the league as they prepare for #DecisionDay, including the Columbus Crew’s Wil Trapp, New England Revolution midfielder Jermaine Jones and Brek Shea of Orlando City SC. The match is also live streaming on the FOX Sports GO app on mobile devices and on desktop computers via FOXSportsGO.com.
Lead MLS play-by-play announcer John Strong calls the Crew SC-United match alongside analyst Alexi Lalas and sideline reporter Ashley Ignelzi. On the Spanish-language side, FOX Deportes’ coverage begins at 4:00PM ET with a special pregame edition of FOX DEPORTES EN VIVO, and wraps its coverage with a special FOX DEPORTES EN VIVO post-game show. Former MLS player Mariano Trujillo joins play-by-play announcer John Laguna on the match call.
