FOX Sports Presents Prestigious COPA AMERICA CENTENARIO Official Draw Live on Sunday, Feb. 21
Who will Michael Bradley and the U.S. Men’s National Team face in the group stage of this summer’s prestigious COPA AMERICA CENTENARIO, the "Championship of the Americas?” And who will get matched up with Messi and Argentina, Neymar Jr.’s Brazil or Chicharito’s Mexico, who also enter as seeded teams in their respective groups? Those questions get answered on Sunday, Feb. 21, as FOX Sports offers hour-long coverage of the Official Draw to determine the tournament’s group-stage configuration and full match schedule.
FOX Sports’ Jenny Taft and Alexi Lalas are part of the multi-network team hosting the event and assisting with the Draw, live from the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. The Official Draw airs at 8:00 PM ET on FS2 and FOX Soccer Plus and is being streamed live digitally on FOX Sports GO, FOXSportsGO.com and FOX Soccer 2Go.
The draw determines the composition of each four-team group, with Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and the United States in the first of four pots. The remaining 12 nations are comprised of eight from South America (Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela) and four from the CONCACAF region (Costa Rica, Haiti, Jamaica and Panama). They are sorted by Confederation into the three remaining pots and one team from each pot is selected into each of the four groups. In January, FOX Sports secured multi-platform media rights to the historic 2016 COPA AMERICA CENTENARIO, televising all 32 matches live across 10 venues nationwide from June 3 to June 26, with matches appearing on FOX broadcast network, FS1 and FS2. Copa America is considered the oldest international continental soccer tournament, and this year’s event is a special edition celebrating the tournament’s first 100 years.
