For two decades, Adrian Garcia Marquez has been pouring his passion and energy into a microphone. Garcia Marquez currently serves as the host and play-by-play voice for FOX Deportes’ coverage of the MLB and Premier Boxing Champions and contributes to college football, BKFC and Liga MX broadcasts. He has also served as a play-by-play announcer for FOX Soccer’s productions including Liga MX, Concacaf Gold Cup and CONMEBOL Copa America.
Garcia Marquez also served as the play-by-play announcer for Super Bowl LIV, the most-watched Spanish-language Super Bowl of all time on cable. He also currently serves as the lead Spanish-language radio play-by-play announcer for the Los Angeles Chargers as well as NBA League Pass Spanish-language broadcasts.
The award-winning venerable jack of all trades, Garcia Marquez most recently spent six seasons as “La Voz de Los Lakers” on television. While working for the historic franchise, Adrian won an Emmy Award for “Live Sports Coverage”, two NBA “Best Live Call” Awards, and three Southern California Sports-Broadcaster Association Awards for best “TV Play by Play.” In 2017, he was also nominated for “Call of the Year” by the Southern California Sports Broadcasters, an award won by the legendary Vin Scully.
The San Diego native began his career in baseball in 1999 as the host of the San Diego Padres Pregame Show for the team’s Spanish radio flagship K1040 AM. A year later he would become the youngest play-by-play announcer in Major League Baseball, serving as the Spanish-language voice of the Oakland A’s. That same year, he was recruited by ESPN to call MLB action including Playoffs and the World Series. At ESPN he also broadcast NFL games and hosted shows including NFL Primetime and NFL Films.
While in Connecticut, Garcia Marquez was hired as the play-by-play announcer for the Boston Red Sox Spanish Radio Network, SBN in 2001. In 2002, Garcia Marquez would transition to a network sports anchor with Univision Sports in Miami. There he was named to the original anchor trio for the successful “Contacto Deportivo” highlight show on Telefutura.
Telemundo in Los Angeles took notice of his work during the FIFA World Cup in Japan/South Korea and brought him home to southern California later that summer. He began as a weekend sports anchor and soon graduated to hosting top programs such as the legendary Rose Parade, “Dodgers en Domingo” and “El Show de Los Lakers.” The network named him to the first-ever Spanish-language Olympic broadcast team in the U.S. for the 2004 games in Athens as a commentator for baseball and basketball.
He then joined FOX Deportes where he broadcast the World Series on five occasions. Throughout his career Garcia Marquez has also called USC Football, the San Diego Chargers, the Anaheim Angels, Top Rank boxing and the LA Galaxy.
He lives in Corona, Calif., with his wife and two kids.
