Complete 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament Televised for 1st Time Ever
Los Angeles – FOX Sports today unveils plans for its unprecedented coverage of the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship. Never before have all 16 matches of this region’s most prestigious women’s soccer competition been televised, and this year each match, including the semifinals and final, is being carried live on FOX Sports 1 or FOX Sports 2 and streamed live via FOX Soccer 2Go and FOX Sports GO. The top three teams in the CONCACAF Women’s Championship qualify directly for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The action begins Wednesday, Oct. 15 with a doubleheader live from Kansas City’s Sporting Park on FOX Sports 2 as Guatemala takes on Haiti at 6:00 PM ET, followed at 8:00 PM ET by the U.S. Women’s National Team opener against Trinidad and Tobago live on FOX Sports 2 with an encore on FOX Sports 1 later that night.
The Mexican Women’s National Team kicks off its World Cup qualifying hopes one day later, clashing with Costa Rica at 8:30 PM ET on FOX Sports 2. The U.S. headlines the action on Friday, Oct. 17, facing Guatemala live from Toyota Park in Chicago on FOX Sports 1 at 8:30 PM ET. Abby Wambach, Alex Morgan and company wrap up their qualifying matches live against Haiti in Washington D.C.’s RFK Stadium on Monday, Oct. 20 on FOX Sports 1 (7:00 PM ET). The semifinals commence Friday, Oct. 25, followed by the third-place match and final on Sunday, Oct. 26, both live on FOX Sports 1. Pregame coverage begins in-studio before each USWNT match 30 minutes prior to kickoff. See below for the complete schedule.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to showcase some of the best in women’s soccer,” said FOX Sports Executive Producer, FIFA World Cup on FOX, David Neal. “Our dedication to the growth of this sport in America has never been more evident than by the extraordinary coverage we have on tap for this year’s CONCACAF Women’s Championship.”
Viewers have comprehensive access to the entire tournament with live and on-demand streaming via FOX Soccer 2Go and FOX Sports GO, the app that provides live video of FOX Sports content at home or on the go. Additionally, FOXSoccer.com delivers the ultimate inside look on and off the field with video highlights, editorial coverage, live play-by-play and scoring updates.
The 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship features exciting talent and rivalries from the eight participating nations from North America (United States, Mexico), Central America (Guatemala, Costa Rica) and the Caribbean (Haiti, Martinique, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago).
