FOX Sports Announces Broadcast Teams for FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP 2015 Quarterfinals
With the U.S. Women’s National Team set to battle China and a massive matchup between powerhouses Germany and France on tap, FOX Sports has set its broadcast teams for the FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP 2015™ Quarterfinal Round, which takes place Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 on local FOX broadcast stations and FOX Sports 1.
JP Dellacamera, Tony DiCicco and Cat Whitehill, who called all four matches as the USWNT emerged as winners of Group D and then dispatched Colombia in the Round of 16, call the Americans’ quarterfinal match against China. The rematch of the famous 1999 World Cup Final is set for Friday, June 26, with coverage beginning at 6:00 PM ET on FOX. The 1999 match, also called by Dellacamera, put Brandi Chastain and her team, coached by DiCicco, into sports lore, as almost 18 million Americans watched the U.S. win its second and most recent Women’s World Cup title. FOX Sports’ USWNT insider Jenny Taft reports from the sidelines.
The Friday doubleheader begins earlier that day when Justin Kutcher and Aly Wagner call a quarterfinal between European giants Germany and France, the winner of which faces the USA-China winner in the semifinal round. Julie Stewart-Binks reports from the sideline. Coverage begins at 3:00 PM ET on FOX.
The other side of the bracket plays the following day, Saturday, June 27, with coverage for Australia vs. Japan beginning at 3:30 PM ET on FOX Sports 1 and Jenn Hildreth and Kyndra de St. Aubin on the call. The last piece of the quarterfinal puzzle follows, pitting England against host Canada, with coverage beginning at 6:00 PM ET on FOX Sports 1. John Strong and Danielle Slaton call the match, joined by Stewart-Binks on the sideline.
Grant Wahl continues his role as correspondent–at-large, and Dr. Joe Machnik provides expert analysis on key refereeing decisions.
Assignments for the semifinals, third-place match and final are to be announced next week. Complementing FOX Sports’ extensive live match coverage is studio programming originating from the network’s specially-constructed set located at the Vancouver Convention Centre in Jack Poole Plaza. FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP TODAY provides pre-match, halftime, post-match and bridge programming, and features host Rob Stone alongside analysts Alexi Lalas, Heather Mitts, Kelly Smith and Ariane Hingst.
FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP TONIGHT offers the definitive last word on the day’s action and features host Kate Abdo, with co-host Eric Wynalda alongside a panel of analysts including Monica Gonzalez, Leslie Osborne and Christine Latham.
