All eyes turned to Buenos Aires for the second leg of the Copa Libertadores Final on Wednesday (8/5) when, after months of play, Argentinian club River Plate and Mexico’s Tigres met to determine South America’s prestigious 2015-16 championship. River Plate striker Lucas Alario, midfielder Carlos Sanchez and defender Ramiro Funes Mori led the team to a 3-0 victory over Tigres, earning the club its third Copa Libertadores title.
FOX Deportes’ coverage of the highly anticipated final averaged 979,000 total viewers and 640,000 in the Adult 18-49 demographic, making it the most-watched Copa Libertadores final in network history, and taking the top spot of the day among all Spanish-language cable networks. The match peaked from 9:30 PM ET to 9:45 PM ET with 1.383 million viewers.
The 2015 Copa Libertadores Finals averaged 840,000 total viewers and 566,000 Adult 18-49, making it the highest performing finals ever for the network, up +4% in total viewers compared to the previous record set in 2010 (805,000) when Brazil’s Internacional defeated Mexico’s Guadalajara.
