Friday’s USMNT Friendly is Match No. 200 in FOX Sports’ Record-Breaking SUMMER OF SOCCER
On Friday, Sept. 4, the U.S. Men’s National Team faces Peru in a much-anticipated international friendly at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C., the 200th match of FOX Sports’ unprecedented Summer of Soccer. Since Memorial Day, over 70 million viewers have tuned in to FOX Sports channels, including FOX broadcast network, FS1, FS2 and FOX Deportes, to witness a wide variety of live Summer of Soccer events from FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015™, CONCACAF Gold Cup, UEFA Champions League, Bundesliga, FA Cup, MLS, NWSL, Guinness International Champions Cup, FIFA U-20 World Cup 2015™, USWNT and USMNT friendlies and more.
Powered by FOX Sports’ Summer of Soccer programming between June 1 and Aug. 23, FS1 has more than doubled its primetime audience compared to the same dates a year ago (438,000 vs. 216,000, +103%).
Friday’s USMNT vs. Peru coverage begins at 7:00 PM ET on FS1, with a 30-minute pregame show hosted by Rob Stone with analysts Eric Wynalda, Alexi Lalas and Stuart Holden. John Strong calls the match alongside analyst Brad Friedel and sideline reporter Grant Wahl.
In addition to the USMNT’s friendly, FOX Sports’ jam-packed soccer lineup on Labor Day weekend features 27 matches from the 2016 UEFA European Championship Qualifiers, Thursday, Sept. 3 through Tuesday, Sept. 8, across multiple FOX Sports platforms. On Friday, reigning World Cup Champion Germany faces Poland in a crucial encounter; pregame coverage begins at 2:00 PM ET on FS1 with kick-off at 2:30 PM ET. A special 90-minute edition of AMERICA’S PREGAME follows the match at 5:30 PM ET leading up to the USMNT friendly. Also on Friday, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal takes on France in an international friendly at 2:30 PM ET on FOX Soccer Plus and FOX Deportes, while European heavyweights Italy and England play in other top UEFA Euro qualifying clashes over the weekend. Monday’s coverage on FS1 includes a doubleheader as Armenia and Denmark go head-to-head at 11:30 AM ET, before Germany takes on Scotland at 2:30 PM ET. Spain vs. Macedonia highlights the sole FS1 match on Tuesday.
Julie Stewart-Binks, who spent 65 days on the road as a reporter during the Summer of Soccer, hosts UEFA Euro Qualifying coverage on Thursday, Sept. 3 (2:00 PM ET) before Italy vs. Malta with Holden and Lalas. She takes the desk again on Friday at 2:00 PM ET before Germany-Poland alongside Holden, Wynalda and Warren Barton. During her dizzying summer on the road, Stewart-Binks took 38 airline flights, covered 33 games and stayed in 28 different hotel beds. Ian Joy hosts back-to-back studio shows on Monday and Tuesday, with a rotation of analysts including Holden, Barton and Jovan Kirovski.
