Top College Basketball Returns to FOX Sports

FOX Sports is home to nearly 300 men’s and women’s college basketball games this season, featuring the BIG EAST, Pac-12, Conference USA, Big 12 and Ivy League. Included on this season’s schedule are coverage of the inaugural Gavitt Tipoff Games, a new conference challenge between the BIG EAST and the Big Ten conferences, plus multiple prestigious regular-season tournaments, and championship games for the BIG EAST men and women, Pac-12, Conference USA and Ivy League men and Big 12 women. This season, the BIG EAST Men’s Basketball Tournament championship game returns to broadcast television for the first time since 1995, airing Saturday, March 12 on FOX broadcast network.

FS1’s college hoops coverage tips off Friday, Nov. 13, with the beginning of the Chris Mullin era at St. John’s, as the Red Storm host Wagner at 6:00 PM ET. Mullin, a two-time All-American and Naismith Hall of Famer, enters his first year as head coach at his alma mater.

The inaugural Gavitt Tipoff Games, a new conference challenge between the BIG EAST and Big Ten, take center court Tuesday, Nov. 17 through Thursday, Nov. 19, with four games on FS1. Also highlighting the BIG EAST non-conference schedule, an old conference rivalry is renewed as Georgetown hosts Syracuse at the Verizon Center on FOX broadcast network Saturday, Dec. 5 (1:00 PM ET).

On Monday, Dec. 7, as our nation recognizes Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, FS1 televises a pair of high-profile matchups at Bloch Arena, located on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, which withstood the 1941 Japanese bombing, as two-time BIG EAST champion Villanova faces Oklahoma (7:00 PM ET), followed by Navy vs. Oregon. These games represent the culmination of a three-day, on-location tribute to the United States military on the 74th anniversary of “a date which will live in infamy,” which also includes events associated with the MLB and NFL.

BIG EAST conference play begins Wednesday, Dec. 30, with an FS1 doubleheader featuring Seton Hall at Marquette (7:00 PM ET) followed by Georgetown at DePaul (9:00 PM ET). This season, the network’s traditional New Year’s BIG EAST Marathon moves back a few days to Saturday, Jan. 2, with all 10 conference teams in action from 11:00 AM ET through Midnight.

In February, FS1 helps Conference USA recognize one of the most historically significant college basketball games of all time with the 50th anniversary celebration of the 1966 Texas Western (now UTEP) national championship. On March 19, 1966, Texas Western head coach Don Haskins started an all-black lineup in the national championship game, as the team went on to beat Kentucky, 72-65, capping a season which has since been immortalized in the 2006 film, “Glory Road.” On Saturday, Feb. 6, FS1 televises UTEP’s anniversary celebration game as the Miners host WKU at the Don Haskins Center at 5:00 PM ET.

The BIG EAST men’s basketball regular season comes to a close on Saturday, March 5, with all 10 conference teams in action, highlighted by a doubleheader on the FOX broadcast network beginning at 12:00 PM ET with Georgetown at Villanova. By the end of the afternoon, each of the conference’s teams will know its path entering the BIG EAST Men’s Basketball Tournament, which tips off Wednesday, March 9, at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Conference tournament play on the FOX Sports family of networks begins Friday, March 4, on FOX College Sports with the first round of the Big 12 Women’s Tournament, followed by the BIG EAST women’s quarterfinals which begin Sunday, March 6, on FS2. The Big 12 women’s champion is crowned on Monday, March 7, followed by the BIG EAST women’s championship game on Tuesday, March 8, both on FS1.

The FOX Sports family of networks crowns at least three men’s champions on Saturday, March 12, beginning with the Conference USA title game at 2:30 PM ET on FS1. Later that afternoon, the BIG EAST men’s championship game tips off at 5:30 PM ET on FOX broadcast network, marking the game’s return to over-the-air broadcast television for the first time in more than 20 years. FS1 also carries the Ivy League’s one-game men’s basketball playoff, if necessary, at 5:00 PM ET on Saturday, March 12, if the contest is needed to determine which team receives the league’s automatic NCAA bid. And at 10:00 PM ET that night, FS1 caps the day of tournament winners and NCAA automatic qualifiers with the Pac-12 men’s championship game. FS1 also presents coverage of one Pac-12 quarterfinal game (Thursday, March 10 at 11:30 PM ET) and one Pac-12 semifinal (Friday, March 11 at 11:30 PM ET).

This season, a minimum of 15 games are scheduled to air on the FOX broadcast network – more than ever before – including the championship game of the BIG EAST Men’s Basketball Tournament, which returns to broadcast television for the first time in more than 20 years. FS1, America’s fastest-growing sports cable network, carries more than 150 men’s and women’s contests, including games from the BIG EAST men’s and women’s, Pac-12 and Conference USA men’s and Big 12 women’s tournaments and a potential Ivy League playoff game, while additional games can be seen on FS2, FOX Sports Regional Networks and FOX College Sports. Games are also available via the FOX Sports GO app and online at FOXSportsGO.com.
