LA Galaxy Head Coach Bruce Arena Joins FS1’s MLS Conference Semifinals Coverage Sunday
The Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs continue this weekend with the second and final leg of the Conference Semifinals, and FS1 and FOX Deportes televise a blockbuster Western Conference doubleheader Sunday, Nov. 8, and Los Angeles Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena joins the studio coverage on FS1.
In the first matchup of the night, the Seattle Sounders face FC Dallas at 7:30 PM ET. Their first leg encounter last Sunday was a thriller as Clint Dempsey scored off a stunning free kick in the 86th minute to give Seattle the 2-1 win. Lead MLS play-by-play announcer John Strong calls the match live from Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Tex. with analyst Alexi Lalas and reporter Julie Stewart-Binks.
Sunday’s second match features a Pacific Northwest battle between the Vancouver Whitecaps and Portland Timbers kicking off at 10:00 PM ET. Last week’s 0-0 draw has the two teams even as they resume their Cascadia Cup rivalry and fight for a place in the MLS Conference Championship. Veteran JP Dellacamera calls the action from BC Place in Vancouver alongside analyst Brad Friedel and reporter Brian Dunseth. In the event of a tie in the aggregate score at the conclusion of regulation, play this weekend includes extra time and penalty shootouts, if needed.
Rob Stone hosts FS1’s Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs pregame, halftime and postgame coverage live from the FOX Network Center in Los Angeles. Stone is joined by U.S. Soccer Hall of Famers Eric Wynalda, who scored the first-ever MLS goal 20 seasons ago, and Brian McBride, one of the best players in Columbus Crew history, scoring 62 goals before his move to England. Arena, who led his squad to the 2014 MLS Cup, sits-in and adds a current coach’s perspective.
FOX Deportes covers all the action in Spanish beginning at 6:30 PM ET with a special edition of FOX DEPORTES EN VIVO. Game coverage, featuring broadcasters boasting over 20 years of experience, immediately follows. Calling the FC Dallas-Seattle Sounders match are longtime FOX Deportes play-by-play announcer John Laguna and former player Alvaro Izquierdo. Former Mexican National Team Captain and MLS player Claudio Suarez is joined by play-by-play announcer Troy Santiago on the Vancouver Whitecaps-Portland Timbers call.
All matches on FS1 and FOX Deportes are available via FOX Sports GO and FOX Soccer 2Go, and online through FOXSportsGO.com.
