FOX Sports Presents European Giants Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona & Bayern Munich
Over the next two weeks, FOX Sports and FOX Deportes are home to many of Europe’s biggest soccer clubs – Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Real Madrid among them – as the highly-anticipated UEFA Champions League knockout stages begin, and other top-level competitions are underway. In addition to the UEFA Champions League, FOX Sports’ networks and digital platforms present nearly 50 international soccer matches featuring action from UEFA Europa League, FA Cup, CONCACAF Champions League and Bundesliga over the fortnight. The UEFA Champions League takes center stage next Tuesday, Feb. 16 as Chelsea, who recently added USMNT defender Matt Miazga, face Paris St. Germain in a Round of 16 match on FS1 (2:00 PM ET). Spanish giants Real Madrid highlight the action on Wednesday, Feb. 17, against Roma on FS1 and FOX Deportes (2:00 PM ET). The knockout matches resume the following week on Tuesday, Feb. 23 (2:00 PM ET) as Arsenal and defending champion Barcelona battle in a mouthwatering fixture on FS1, while Bayern Munich and Juventus take the field on FS2 and FOX Deportes.
The star-studded week rolls on next Thursday, Feb. 18 with English powerhouses Manchester United and Liverpool headlining the UEFA Europa League Round of 32 matches. Manchester United meets Denmark’s Midtjylland (12:30 PM ET), followed by Liverpool clashing with Germany’s Augsburg (3:00 PM ET). The tournament’s knockout rounds resume with a handful of matches on Thursday, Feb. 25, as well as the return of MULTIMATCH 90 on FOX Soccer Plus/FOX Soccer 2Go (12:50 PM ET), which brings viewers every goal and highlight in near real-time from the simultaneous action.
Many of the European heavyweights face a quick turnaround, appearing on FOX Sports outlets beginning Friday, Feb. 19, with FA Cup 5th Round and Bundesliga matches on FS1, FS2, FOX Soccer Plus and FOX Deportes. In addition, the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals kick off Tuesday, Feb. 23, as the region’s top club competition sees MLS teams in each of the quarterfinals, including the Seattle Sounders and the LA Galaxy, led by Steven Gerrard and Giovanni Dos Santos.
FOX Sports’ UEFA Champions League coverage begins each day with a 30-minute pregame show. Rob Stone hosts pregame, halftime and postgame coverage alongside a rotation of analysts including Eric Wynalda, Warren Barton, Brad Friedel and Alexi Lalas. Stone also hosts FA Cup Match Day coverage over the weekend with Friedel and Barton. Ian Joy hosts UEFA Europa League coverage alongside Barton and Wynalda, and that same team is at the desk again for Bundesliga coverage with German star midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger joining the mix. On the Spanish-language side, Mariano Trujillo and John Laguna call all UEFA Champions League games on FOX Deportes.
