FOX NFL Analysts Aikman, Long & Tillman Preview Network’s Super Bowl Season
New York – This afternoon FOX Sports lead game analyst and Pro Football Hall of Famer Troy Aikman, FOX NFL SUNDAY analyst and Hall of Famer Howie Long, recently retired two-time Pro Bowl cornerback and new FOX NFL KICKOFF studio analyst Charles Tillman, and FOX Sports President of Production and Executive Producer John Entz answered questions and offered previews and analysis on FOX Sports’ upcoming Super Bowl season.
Aikman gives insight as to which teams look strong going into upcoming season:
“There are some great teams out there. I look at Green Bay and I think they’re going to be much better than they were a year ago, after they get their receiving corps back intact. I like Seattle; I like Arizona. I’ve said it before – Arizona is about the most complete team that I’ve seen. They were last year, and they are once again going into this season.”
Long calls the NFL’s return to Los Angeles a “game-changer”:
“The move is a game-changer for the league. It’s a game-changer for the Rams. That complex will be breathtaking, and dare I say rival “Jerry’s World” down in Dallas. The opportunities that the NFL has in Los Angeles with that kind of facility is limitless. It’s a team that’s on the rise.
“We won a Super Bowl out there. That’s something that the old Rams teams didn’t do, and I’m sure it’s something this team is gearing toward. With [Todd] Gurley, if they get some more skill players and this young quarterback evolves, they have a shot to be there down the road in the not–too-distant future.”
Long on his son Chris’s departure from the Rams:
“It’s a business, and you understand it. Chris had a really good career there on a team that won 30-something games over eight years, and it was a challenge. Trying to find a way to get up every week and recommit yourself to being the best that you can possibly be is difficult under those circumstances. The Rams are where they are, and I think they’re excited about where they are, as they should be. I think Chris is excited to be opening the season as the New England Patriots left defensive end/left outside linebacker.”
Long says the Minnesota Vikings have a better chance to succeed with Sam Bradford than they did with Teddy Bridgewater:
“The Minnesota situation – it’s tragic, and it’s unfortunate, and you hate to see someone that young injured, particularly at a team that has the opportunity to be there at the end, which, Minnesota won the division last year – I think people forget that. This team is, as Sam [Bradford] gets more and more comfortable there with the running game, the additions they’ve made in the offensive line, the people they have around him and that great defense – they have an opportunity, and maybe a better opportunity to be the team at the end of the year than they did with Bridgewater. Sam is going to have that kind of a year in Minnesota.”
Tillman also has an eye on Bradford:
“I’m excited and curious to see what Sam Bradford is going to do in Minnesota, considering the loss they had with Teddy Bridgewater. Bradford is on his fourth team in three years, in another system so I’m curious to see what he can do.”
