National Women’s Soccer League Champions Crowned Sunday on FS1

After two dramatic extra-time matches in the semifinals, the National Women’s Soccer League Championship is set for Sunday, Oct. 9 as the Washington Spirit face the Western New York Flash, beginning at 5:00 PM ET on FS1. Jenn Hildreth calls the match alongside Kyndra de St. Aubin live from BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston.

The Western New York Flash upset the 2016 NWSL Shield winners, Portland Thorns FC, 4-3 for a spot in the championship match. Western New York forward Lynn Williams, who won the 2016 NWSL Golden Boot, scored twice in the first period of extra time to secure their victory. In the other semifinal match, Crystal Dunn and the Washington Spirit defeated the Chicago Red Stars 2-1, earning the team its first-ever appearance in the NWSL Championship.
