Potential Home Field Advantage for 2016 MLS Cup on the Line Sunday on FS1
FS1 presents a thrilling doubleheader of women’s and men’s soccer on Sunday, Oct. 23, beginning at 1:00 PM ET. In the first matchup of the day, the U.S. Women’s National Team takes on No. 15-ranked Switzerland in an international friendly. Immediately following, FOX Sports, home of the 2016 MLS Cup, closes out the MLS regular season at 4:00 PM ET on Decision Day when the LA Galaxy host Supporter Shield contenders FC Dallas.
Rob Stone hosts studio coverage live from StubHub Center with former MLS legend Alexi Lalas and former U.S. Women’s National Team coach Tony DiCicco. Glenn Davis calls the USWNT action alongside Aly Wagner with Jenny Taft reporting from the sideline. John Strong calls the LA Galaxy vs. FC Dallas match alongside former MLS star Brad Friedel and Julie Stewart-Binks from the sideline.
Sunday’s coverage includes a special Carli Lloyd feature, live look-ins, highlights, match analysis of all 10 of the day’s MLS contests, and exclusive interviews with LA Galaxy and FC Dallas players.
The LA Galaxy have already clinched their playoff spot and currently sit in third place in the MLS standings. The team will discover its playoff opponent on Sunday. FC Dallas looks to capture the top seed in the playoffs and a chance to host the MLS Cup. A draw for FC Dallas secures its first-ever Supporter Shield.
The 2016 MLS Cup will be FOX Sports’ first presentation of the championship event, set to air on the FOX broadcast network in prime time on Saturday, Dec. 10, beginning at 7:30 PM ET. This marks the first time since 2008 that the MLS Cup will air live on English-language network television.
