FOX Sports Takes MLS Studio Show to Seattle for MLS Conference Semifinals Doubleheader Sunday
FOX Sports, home of the 2016 MLS Cup, continues coverage of the 2016 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs with an action-packed doubleheader on Sunday, Oct. 30, beginning at 7:00 PM ET on FS1.
Play begins with the first leg of the two-game Eastern Conference semifinals as No. 3 seed Toronto FC squares off against No. 2 seed New York City FC. Immediately following, top-seeded FC Dallas visits the No. 4 seed Seattle Sounders in the first leg of the two-game Western Conference semifinals.
Rob Stone anchors studio coverage for both matches from a field-level set at CenturyLink Field in Seattle alongside MLS legend Alexi Lalas. JP Dellacamera and Stu Holden call the early match from Toronto’s BMO Field with sideline reporter Danielle Slaton. John Strong and Brad Friedel are on the call for the second match live from CenturyLink Field with Julie Stewart-Binks reporting from the sideline.
Nelson Valdez’s 88th-minute header gave the Seattle Sounders a 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City in the knockout round of the Western Conference playoffs Thursday night in Seattle. One night earlier, Toronto FC defeated the Philadelphia Union 3-1 to advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals for the first time in the club’s history. By virtue of finishing in the top two seeds in their respective conferences, New York City FC and FC Dallas had already clinched their spot in the two-legged conference semifinals, earning byes during the knockout round.
The 2016 MLS Cup is FOX Sports’ first presentation of the championship event, set to air on the FOX broadcast network in prime time on Saturday, Dec. 10, beginning at 7:30 PM ET. This marks the first time since 2008 that the MLS Cup will air live on English-language network television.
Both matches can be streamed live via the FOX Sports GO or FOX Soccer 2Go mobile apps, and on desktop via FOXSportsGO.com. FOX Sports GO is also now available on Apple TV, Roku, Xbox One, and Chromecast. FS1 also offers the matches in Spanish via Secondary Audio Programming (SAP).
