FOX Sports Presents 43-Match Lineup Over 13 Days
LOS ANGELES, CA – European soccer takes center stage on the FOX Sports family of networks with 43 matches featuring the return of the UEFA Champions League as well as the Europa League, Bundesliga and FA Cup. The 13-day lineup across FS1, FS2, FOX Soccer Plus and FOX Deportes kicks off Valentine’s Day and features heavyweights Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich and many others.
For its eighth UEFA Champions League season, FOX Sports adds commentary to one match a week beginning Wednesday, Feb. 15. Lead play-by-play announcer John Strong will be on the call joined by a rotation of analysts.
UEFA Champions League action begins Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 2:00 PM ET on FS1 and FOX Deportes with a clash between Lionel Messi’s Barcelona against Paris St. Germain at Parc des Princes. Rob Stone hosts studio coverage alongside analysts Warren Barton, Eric Wynalda and Alexi Lalas. Dr. Joe Machnik weighs in as rules analyst and Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl contributes as analyst. John Laguna, Mariano Trujillo and Monica Gonzalez are on the call in Spanish.
On Wednesday, Feb. 15, Bayern Munich squares off against rival Arsenal, marking the fourth time in five years that the two clubs meet in UEFA Champions League competition. Coverage begins at 2:00 PM ET on FS1 and FOX Deportes. Stone hosts studio coverage alongside Barton, Wynalda and Lalas. Strong calls the match alongside Stu Holden. On FOX Deportes, Laguna, Trujillo and Gonzalez are on the call in Spanish. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid headlines the action on FS2 against Napoli at 2:30 PM ET.
Europa League dominates coverage with seven matches on Thursday, Feb. 16, beginning at 10:50 AM ET when Krasnodar battles Fenerbahce on FS2. Later that day, two of England’s most storied clubs headline the action on FS1 as Gent hosts Tottenham Hotspur at 12:30 PM ET, followed by a clash between Manchester United and Saint-Etienne, two teams who have never before met in any European competition. Kate Abdo hosts studio coverage alongside Barton and Holden for both matches and recaps the day’s action on the Europa League Full Time show at 5:00 PM ET on FS2 and FOX Soccer Plus. Ross Dyer and Brian Dunseth are on the call for Gent-Tottenham Hotspur, while Keith Costigan and Lalas call Manchester United-Saint Etienne.
Friday’s Bundesliga coverage begins at 1:30 PM ET on Friday, Feb. 17 on FS1 and FOX Deportes when Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez’s Bayer Leverkusen visits Augsburg at Impuls Arena. Ian Joy hosts studio coverage alongside Wynalda and Jovan Kirovski. Trujillo and Laguna call the match for FOX Deportes.
Coverage continues Saturday, Feb. 18 and Sunday, Feb. 19 with seven FA Cup matches and five Bundesliga fixtures. Headlining the action Saturday on FS1 and FOX Deportes are Burnley-Lincoln City at 7:25 AM ET, followed by Huddersfield Town-Manchester City. Abdo hosts FA Cup studio coverage alongside Wynalda and Holden. On FOX Deportes, Jairo Moncada and Alvaro Izquierdo are on the call for Burnley-Lincoln City, while Ariel Torrone and Monica Gonzalez call Huddersfield Town-Manchester City. On Sunday, FS1’s lineup features the Spurs heading to Craven Cottage to face Fulham for the first time since 2014 at 8:30 AM ET, followed by Manchester United’s first visit to Ewood Park since 2012 to face Blackburn. Abdo hosts FA Cup studio coverage alongside Barton, Holden and Lalas. Sutton United’s historic FA Cup fifth-round tie against Arsenal kicks off next week’s soccer action on Monday, Feb. 20 at 2:30 PM ET on FS1 and FOX Deportes. Abdo hosts studio coverage alongside Barton and Holden. The next day, Monaco, who has only lost once to an English opponent in the UEFA Champions League knockout round, takes on Manchester City at 2:00 PM ET on FS1 and FOX Deportes. Strong calls the match alongside Holden.
On Wednesday, Feb. 22, FS1 airs first UEFA Champions League and Europa League doubleheader when Saint-Etienne squares off against Manchester United in the second leg Europa League round of 32 at 11:50 AM ET. Immediately following, three-time Europa League champion Sevilla takes on Leicester City. Stone hosts the day’s studio coverage alongside Barton, Wynalda and Lalas. Costigan and Holden are on the call.
Europa League and Bundesliga close out the week headlined by Tottenham Hotspur-Gent on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 3:00 PM ET, and Bayern Munich-Hamburg Saturday, Feb. 25 at 9:20 AM ET.
