Veteran FOX Sports Broadcasters Head to Erin Hills for 117th U.S. Open Championship
European Tour Stalwart Darren Clarke Joins FOX Sports’ USGA Coverage

NEW YORK, NY – With the 117th U.S. Open Championship set to tee off from Erin Hills next week, FOX Sports announces the veteran crew of broadcasters delivering over 45 hours of live coverage from Erin, Wis., from Thursday, June 15 through Sunday, June 18. The announcement was made today by FOX Sports’ John Entz, President of Production and Executive Producer, and Mark Loomis, Executive Producer, USGA Studio and Event Production.
“We are very happy to welcome back much of the same broadcast team from last year’s championship and to welcome another major champion, Darren Clarke, to our coverage,” said Loomis. “With some of the most knowledgeable names in the game in the booth and on the course, we are looking forward to what we expect will be another exciting U.S. Open.”
Clarke serves as an analyst for the 117th U.S. Open Championship, providing his unique perspective throughout the championship. A member of the European Tour since 1991, Clarke won The Open Championship in 2011 and captained Europe’s Ryder Cup team in 2016. He is a three-time winner of the English Open, and in 2003, became the second player to win more than one World Golf Championship title.
Leading coverage of the 2017 event, Joe Buck returns for his third U.S. Open Championship, joined in the 18th Tower by lead analyst Paul Azinger and analyst Brad Faxon for the second consecutive year. Azinger joined THE HERD WITH COLIN COWHERD yesterday to announce highlighted player groupings and preview the field.
Two-time U.S. Open Champion Curtis Strange returns as an on course commentator and will be joined on the fairways by Steve Flesch, Juli Inkster and Ken Brown. Brown will also bring Erin Hills to life with his series of “Brownie Points” throughout the week.
Holly Sonders hosts studio coverage throughout the championship, while reporter Shane Bacon conducts pre and post round interviews. Renowned course architect Gil Hanse provides course and design analysis and David Fay weighs in as rules expert. Play-by-play announcer Shane O’Donoghue will be joined by Clarke to call part of FOX Sports’ extensive live championship coverage.
FOX Sports once again delivers extensive digital coverage at the U.S. Open, this year anchored by Joel Klatt and Justin Kutcher who provide play-by-play for featured groups. They are joined by a team of analysts and reporters which includes Mark Brooks, Robert Damron, Jay Delsing, Luke Elvy, Jason Gore, Buddy Marucci, Ned Michaels, Joe Ogilvie and Brett Quigley.
