BIG3 Final on FOX Delivers Power-ful Ratings Performance
2018 Championship Game Ranks as the Most-Watched BIG3 Telecast Ever
LOS ANGELES – FOX Sports’ live broadcast of the BIG3 championship game on FOX Friday reached an average of 1,004,000 viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research, making it the most-watched BIG3 telecast ever. Audience viewership of the 2018 championship was +59% better than last year’s average audience delivery of 632,000 viewers.
“Our season two shift to live production and added games on the broadcast network generated viewership growth throughout the season,” said Bill Wanger, FOX Sports EVP Programming, Research and Content Strategy. “Friday’s championship game numbers on FOX reflected a solid finish to another competitive summer of BIG3 basketball.”
The season’s final two games featured Power’s championship win against 3’s Company and 3 Headed Monsters’ triumph over Tri-State for third place, in front of a crowd of 13,504 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The BIG3 broadcast peaked at 1,255,000 viewers during the championship game. Power Head Coach, Nancy Lieberman, the first woman to coach a men’s professional sports team, led her squad to the title in her rookie season.
Among the local markets, Kansas City and Birmingham led household ratings with a 2.5/5 and a 2.5/4, respectively. Additionally, Memphis and Tulsa tied for third with a 2.2 household rating.
Overall, the 2018 season on FOX/FS1 averaged 444,000 viewers, up an impressive +108% over last season (213,000).
