“2019 U.S. Open: Woodland Peaks at Pebble Beach” Premieres Thanksgiving Day on FOX
Pebble Beach is one of the most iconic settings in sports, serving as the backdrop for many memorable golf moments. The dramatic 119th U.S. Open Championship certainly played its role in continuing to elevate that legacy.
FOX Sports Films, in association with the USGA, presents “2019 U.S. Open: Woodland Peaks at Pebble Beach,” a documentary premiering Thursday, November 28 at 4:00 PM ET, immediately following the Bears-Lions Thanksgiving Day NFL matchup on FOX (12:30 PM ET).
Narrated by actor Andy Garcia, the film recounts Gary Woodland’s incredible run to a first major championship win, as he held off a crowded field that included Brooks Koepka, who was chasing a record-tying third consecutive U.S. Open.
Never-before-seen footage of Woodland at home with his wife Gabby and their children as well as interviews with his parents spotlight the adversity they’ve faced over the years.
Produced by South District Films, “2019 U.S. Open: Woodland Peaks at Pebble Beach” includes interviews with 2013 U.S. Open Champion Justin Rose and FOX Sports Golf Analyst and two-time U.S. Open Champion Curtis Strange (1988, 1989). FOX Sports’ Shane Bacon, Joel Klatt and Brad Faxon as well as award-winning author John Feinstein offer their perspective throughout the film.
FOX Sports Films is dedicated to presenting captivating global sports documentaries through an unconventional and entertaining lens. Working with FOX Sports’ league and conference partners, the brand produces original programming, connecting live sports events to sports culture.
