FOX Sports Scores Super Bowl First with 4K Ultra High Definition, High Dynamic Range Broadcast
Super Bowl Pregame, Pepsi Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show also Available through 4K Streaming Devices
LOS ANGELES – FOX Sports is delivering Super Bowl LIV in Ultra High Definition (UHD), High Dynamic Range (HDR) for the first time ever, making the game available through the FOX Sports and FOX NOW apps via select 4K streaming devices. In addition, the UHD broadcast will be available through several FOX Sports distributors, including DIRECTV, DISH, Comcast Xfinity X1, Altice Optimum, Verizon FIOS and FuboTV.
While UHD adds more pixels, HDR makes the pixels better by increasing dark and light levels and adding even more color information within each pixel, taking the possibilities in color variation from millions to billions.
UHD/HDR content will include the FOX NFL KICKOFF SHOW (1:00 – 2:00 PM ET), FOX NFL SUPER BOWL PREGAME SHOW (2:00 – 6:00 PM ET) and Super Bowl LIV on FOX (6:00 PM ET), including the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Super Bowl content will be available via select 4K streaming devices, including Amazon FireTV 4K: UHD/HDR and AppleTV 4K: UHD/SDR.
Technical specifications for the broadcast: produced natively in 1080p 60fps HLG and upconverted to 2160p 60fps. The broadcast will be offered in the FOX Sports and FOX NOW apps in HDR10 and cable/satellite providers in various HDR formats.
