MICHAEL VICK’S ONE-ON-ONE WITH KYLER MURRAY
Vick: Tell me about the cleats that you’re going to be wearing this weekend, and what charity did you choose?
Murray: “I chose the Call of Duty Endowment. It’s close to my heart, close to my mother’s heart. My mom’s my best friend. Her father, he served in the Army and Navy. So, once I found out about the endowment helping veterans secure jobs when they’re done with their service, it was a no-brainer for me.”
Vick: Well, tell me a little bit about your granddad, because I know he served our country, and directly Mom’s probably raised you — you know, through his principle.
Murray: “I never got to meet him, unfortunately, but the way I act – attention to detail, strict about certain things – she said he’s the same way. She tells me all the time if he was to see what I’ve done with my life and the path I’ve been on, staying focused throughout it all, he’d be proud.”
Vick: You got a special club now at the quarterback position. Right now, it consists of myself and Lamar Jackson. What would it be like to enter that thousand-yard club rusher?
Murray: “I mean…it would be a huge honor, man. It’s obviously two dudes that are incredible with their legs and their arms. Man, be real versatile. I don’t know how many yards away I am, but if I can get my name in there I would love to be a part of that club.”
Vick: You’ve been killing it through the air, too. And you’ve shown that you’ve grown in the passing game. What do you credit that to?
Murray: “The more comfortable I get, you know, the more field awareness I have of just everyone. Adding D-Hop along with the rest of the weathers we got, that just helped me out tremendously. Having a guy that actually, you know, he may not be open sometimes and I can still throw him the ball. That’s going to help any young quarterback.”
Vick: I think it’s amazing what you do on the field. I think it’s even better what you’re doing with your charity, man. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Murray: “Yes, sir. Appreciate you.”
