LOS ANGELES – With the MLB Postseason heating up, FOX Sports Films, in association with Major League Baseball, announces a new original documentary showcasing one of the sport’s most hotly contended MVP title races in memory. THE RACE: QUEST FOR BASEBALL’S MVP TITLE, premieres Sunday, Oct. 10 at midnight ET/9:00 PM PT, immediately following coverage of Game 3 of the American League Division Series between the Houston Astros and the Chicago White Sox on FS1.
Narrated by Ben Verlander, FOX Sports MLB analyst and host of the FLIPPIN’ BATS podcast, the film builds on the anticipation of the ALDS and complements FOX Sports’ unparalleled MLB Postseason coverage.
“This has been one of the most incredible Major League Baseball seasons I’ve seen in my lifetime,” Verlander said. “In the AL, you’ve got Shohei Ohtani – a generational talent – going up against Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who in any normal year would be a shoo-in for the MVP. And then in the NL, it’s wide open with guys like Bryce Harper, Juan Soto and Fernando Tatis Jr., who all had incredible seasons playing for teams that didn’t even make the playoffs. It’s been a privilege to watch these guys up close, and I can’t wait for fans to get an inside look at this unbelievable season.”
THE RACE: QUEST FOR BASEBALL’S MVP TITLE chronicles one of the most exciting MVP races in baseball history, capturing the season’s most critical moments on and off the field. Providing a detailed look into the major storylines in the National and American League races, the film showcases some of the sport’s brightest young stars as they strive to secure their place in baseball’s record books. Among the hopefuls featured in the film are Angels two-way sensation Shohei Ohtani, Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and second baseman Marcus Semien and Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers in the AL; as well as Phillies slugger Bryce Harper, Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr., Nationals outfielder Juan Soto, Dodgers infielder Max Muncy and Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman and outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. in the NL.
The documentary features interviews with some of the sport’s most engaging voices, including FOX BET LIVE host Alex Curry, MLB Network’s Lauren Shehadi and Sarah Langs, and podcast host and former MLB first baseman Xavier Scruggs. FOX MLB reporter and multiple Emmy Award-winner Ken Rosenthal and studio analyst Dontrelle Willis also provide key background and context.
THE RACE: QUEST FOR BASEBALL’S MVP TITLE is produced by DLP Media Group. The film’s executive producers are Michael Hughes, 10-time Emmy award-winning producer and Founder and CEO, DLP Media Group.
