LOS ANGELES – Today marks 100 days to the start of the world’s greatest sporting event in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. In celebration of reaching the milestone moment, FOX Sports, America’s official English-language broadcaster for the tournament, kick starts the countdown to the opening match on Sunday, Nov. 20 with a host of company-wide, multiplatform initiatives, exciting activations and thoughtful soccer events aimed at stoking enthusiasm nationwide.
David Neal, Executive Producer of FIFA World Cup™ on FOX and Vice President of Production for FOX Sports, noted the significance of the occasion as the network enters the next stage of preparation.
“Match day one feels like it’s right around the corner and the excitement is already starting to approach fever pitch,” said Neal. “We have been preparing for quite some time now to host FOX Sports’ largest production in broadcast history, and that work is really starting to show behind the scenes here in the U.S. and Qatar. I want to commend the FOX Sports team for their efforts as we come together in so many inspiring ways to celebrate 100 days to the iconic tournament.”
Earlier this week, FOX Sports launched a new partnership with global nonprofit organization, Common Goal, aimed at creating equitable access to the game for underserved and underrepresented youth athletes, while utilizing the World Cup to tell the story of soccer for good. On Tuesday, Aug. 9, FOX Sports and current Common Goal professional football club members Angel City FC and Tigres UANL united to host Common Goal Festival Los Angeles, a heartwarming community event and celebration of soccer, for more than 80 local youth athletes.
FOX Soccer broadcasters Alexi Lalas, Stu Holden, Jenny Taft, Maurice Edu and Rodolfo Landeros joined in on the fun and participated in skills trainings, personal empowerment clinics and a riveting on-field soccer tournament at the LA-based Goals Soccer Center. Additional community events will be held in the lead up to the FIFA World Cup™ as part of the FOX Sports and Common Goal partnership. Click here to view a recap of the event.
This Saturday, Aug. 13, FOX Sports lights up its FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ campaign in celebration of 100 days with dynamic promotional images set to take over New York City’s Times Square ‘Godzilla Board.’ Also on Saturday, BASEBALL NIGHT IN AMERICA, featuring the New York Yankees vs. the Boston Red Sox at 7:00 PM ET on FOX, will spotlight the FIFA World Cup™ through a variety of integrations.
