FOX Sports Announces Broadcaster Match Assignments for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ Quarterfinals
DOHA, QATAR – Eight powerhouse teams remain standing in the exhilarating quest to win the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ and with the Quarterfinals set to kick off on Friday, Dec. 9 and Saturday, Dec. 10, FOX Sports, America’s English-language home for the tournament, today announces broadcaster match assignments for the four-match slate on FOX. David Neal, Executive Producer of FIFA World Cup™ on FOX and Vice President of Production for FOX Sports, made today’s announcement spotlighting match coverage.
On Friday, Neymar, Richarlison and Brazil samba into a must-watch match with Luka Modrić and defending FIFA World Cup™ runner-up Croatia. Live coverage on FOX starts at 9:00 AM ET with FIFA WORLD CUP LIVE before the match begins at 10:00 AM ET with distinguished play-by-play announcer Ian Darke and United States Men’s National Team legend and match analyst Landon Donovan on the call. Geoff Shreeves joins from the sidelines. At 2:00 PM ET, the competition continues on FOX with Lionel Messi and Argentina battling the Netherlands. FOX Sports’ lead play-by-play announcer John Strong and lead match analyst Stu Holden will call the match with Jenny Taft reporting from the sidelines.
The FIFA World Cup™ Quarterfinals take center stage Saturday with a star-powered doubleheader on FOX featuring Cristiano Ronaldo, Gonçalo Ramos and Portugal taking on Morocco at 10:00 AM ET, before Kylian Mbappé and France meet Harry Kane and England in a showdown for the ages at 2:00 PM ET. The dynamic pairing of play-by-play announcer Derek Rae and United States Women’s National Team icon and match analyst Aly Wagner anchor the Morocco vs. Portugal call, while the Strong-Holden-Taft-Shreeves quartet cover England vs. France. Dr. Joe Machnik will serve as rules analyst for all four Quarterfinal matches on FOX.
