FOX Sports and Fanatics Collectibles Launch MLB at Rickwood Field Promotional Tour at Negro Leagues Baseball Museum

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (May 23, 2024) – Today, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum announces a collaboration with FOX Sports and Fanatics Collectibles ahead of this summer’s special presentation of MLB at Rickwood Field: A Tribute to the Negro Leagues. The collaboration features an unveiling of a giant trading card, honoring Negro Leagues legend Satchel Paige, at the museum. This card will be the first of four baseball legends featured during a promotional tour at select Major League Baseball games and tourist destinations throughout May and June, and will also include Josh Gibson, Jackie Robinson and Willie Mays.

The giant trading cards, featuring the Negro Leagues greats, stand 24×16 ft and weigh in at 8,000 lbs. They were masterfully sketched by former MLB player Micah Johnson using only his fingers, charcoal sticks, an eraser, and a paint roller. The tour, which fittingly kicks off at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, helps build anticipation for the one-of-a-kind matchup between the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants on Thursday, June 20 that will be played at historic Rickwood Field, America’s oldest ballpark located in Birmingham, and televised nationally on FOX.

“The greats of the Negro Leagues are larger-than-life figures in American history and the history of the great game of baseball and it is only fitting to have a larger-than-life unveiling at the Negro League Baseball Museum,” said Bob Kendrick, President of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. “We would like to thank our friends at FOX Sports, Fanatics Collectibles, and Major League Baseball for keeping the spirit of black baseball alive.”

“We are honored to partner with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and FOX Sports to celebrate the many contributions of the Negro Leagues,” said Fanatics Collectibles CMO, Ken Turner. “Our trading cards serve as a way to tell and preserve heritage and we believe that all who experience this tour will have an opportunity to reflect on these baseball legends and understand the positive impact that they have had on today’s game.”

Turner also detailed Fanatics Collectibles’ partnership with former MLB player — and current artist — Micah Johnson to develop a custom trading card set to commemorate the celebration. The 2024 Topps MLB at Rickwood Negro Leagues Collection features Jackie Robinson, Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, Willie Mays, Larry Doby and Monte Irvin.

Turner continued: “Our trading cards serve as a way to tell and preserve heritage and we believe that all who experience this tour will have an opportunity to reflect on these baseball legends and understand the positive impact that they have had on today’s game.”

“We are honored to pay tribute to the enduring legacy of the Negro Leagues and its players with this one-of-a-kind, larger-than-life activation,” said FOX Sports President of Marketing, Robert Gottlieb. “And we couldn’t be more grateful to have the opportunity to launch this tour at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, providing fans a unique access point to uncover a deeper knowledge and understanding of the league and its history.”

Today’s unveiling also features a one-hour public activation window that offers immersive experiences, including brand ambassadors and unique photo ops. To kick off the public activation, Negro Leagues Baseball Museum President Bob Kendrick and former MLB player and artist Micah Johnson will lead Kansas City Royals MLB Urban Youth Academy athletes and media through a tour of the museum before walking to nearby Buck O’Neil Tribute Park for the special unveiling.

FOX SPORTS LAUNCHES NATIONWIDE YOUTH SOCCER MENTAL HEALTH TRAINING DURING UEFA EURO 2024™ AND CONMEBOL COPA AMÉRICA 2024™ TOURNAMENTS

Nationwide Trainings This Summer Advance Impact of “Create the Space” Mental Health Initiative in Collaboration with Nonprofit Partner Common Goal

LOS ANGELES – FOX Sports, America’s English-language home for UEFA EURO 2024™ and CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™ this summer, today unveils its plans with nonprofit partner Common Goal to ensure that soccer – at every level of the game – is equipped with the knowledge, skills and resources to understand, prevent and deal with mental health issues.

During the most anticipated stretch on this year’s soccer calendar from Friday, June 14, to Sunday, July 14, FOX Sports, its parent company Fox Corporation and Common Goal USA are hosting a series of mental health trainings for youth soccer coaches and hundreds of young athletes across the country in select CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™ host locations including Atlanta, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami and New Jersey / New York. FOX Sports and Fox Corporation are co-founders of Common Goal’s Create the Space initiative, which provides mental health training for professional athletes and community organizations and unites the soccer community behind the idea that prioritizing mental wellbeing is equally as important as maintaining one’s physical health.

“FOX Sports is proud to use the transformative power of sport to improve the mental health of our youth while creating safe places and a sense of belonging for them both on and off the field,” said Terri Hines, Executive Vice President, Communications, FOX Sports. “It’s an honor to continue working with Common Goal to destigmatize conversations around this topic and ensure that vulnerability is seen as a sign of strength, not weakness.”

The training series is co-designed by Common Goal and national nonprofit E-Motion and is being led by E-Motion and Atlanta-based nonprofit Soccer in the Streets. Details on locations and dates for the youth athlete and youth coach mental health trainings will be available in the coming weeks at Common-Goal.org.

To kick off the new initiative today in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, FOX Sports reporter Jenny Taft will host an exclusive discussion with U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) and National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) San Diego Wave FC defender Naomi Girma and NWSL Angel City FC forward Messiah Bright about Create the Space and their involvement with the initiative. Following the panel, FOX Sports, Fox Corporation and Common Goal USA organized an impactful soccer-themed event for Los Angeles youth. Members of FOX Sports’ preeminent roster of world-class soccer broadcasters, including Taft, match analyst and former U.S. Men’s National Team star Stu Holden and legendary defender and new studio analyst Giorgio Chiellini, are participating in the activities.

“Our partnership with FOX Sports is a testament to the power of how intentional storytelling can lead to meaningful action,” said Lilli Barrett-O’Keefe, Executive Director of Common Goal USA. “Nearly a year after the launch of our collective movement alongside the 2023 Women’s World Cup, we are again harnessing the power of mega sporting events to provide youth in under-resourced communities across the United States with critical skills to better support themselves and their teammates.”

About Common Goal

Common Goal is a nonprofit organization rooted in the belief that the world’s most popular sport is one of the few cultural forces strong enough to help shift society towards a more sustainable and equitable future for all. The global movement unites the global soccer community to act and collaborate towards the wellbeing of people and the planet through a simple yet impactful mechanism: players, managers, clubs, brands, media outlets and other soccer industry stakeholders pledge a minimum of 1% of earnings, sales and other resources to initiatives using soccer to drive progress towards sustainable social change.

About FOX Sports Commitment to the Common Goal Movement:

FOX Sports is dedicated to sharing the story of soccer for social impact in the United States and became the first and only national FIFA World Cup™ broadcaster to take Common Goal’s 1% pledge, committing 1% of its World Cup coverage through 2026 to telling the story of soccer for good cross-platform. By the end of last summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™, FOX Sports’ total commitment of airtime exceeded 6%. Furthering FOX Sports’ efforts to create and advance fighting chances for all to play and access sports, the company teams with Common Goal to help make soccer accessible, diverse and inclusive for all youth athletes nationwide and shift the narrative about the impact the sport can have to change lives.

TREVOR BAYNE

NASCAR driver and Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne joined FOX Sports in 2022 as a NASCAR analyst on NASCAR RACEDAY: NCTS, the network’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series prerace show, NASCAR RACE HUB and NASCAR RACEDAY, the network’s NASCAR Cup Series prerace show. He also serves as an analyst for select ARCA Menards Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series races. The genesis of these roles was Bayne’s guest booth appearances in the ARCA Menards Series for FOX Sports in 2021, which led to more frequent in-studio work for NASCAR RACE HUB. Beginning with the 2024 season, Bayne also serves as the Head of Driver Optimization at Legacy Motor Club, where he assists drivers in preparation for races each week.

Heading into the 2024 NASCAR season, Bayne’s résumé features 187 NASCAR Cup Series starts, including a win in the 2011 Daytona 500, 164 NASCAR Xfinity Series and nine NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts. Bayne most recently competed in 2023, when he ran three Xfinity Series, including a top-10 finish, and one Truck Series race. In 2022, he campaigned a nine-race Xfinity Series schedule that netted an impressive seven top-10 and five top-five finishes. After stepping away from fulltime racing in 2019, he founded Mahalo Coffee Roasters in his hometown of Knoxville, Tenn., which grew to three locations before an opportunity to sell the company came in 2022.

Bayne first made a name for himself in 2011 at Wood Brothers Racing when, in just his second series start, he became the youngest driver in history to win the Daytona 500, one day after his 20th birthday. In the process, he collected Ford Motor Company’s milestone 600th NASCAR win. He competed fulltime in the NASCAR Cup Series from 2015-2017 behind the wheel of the No. 6 Roush Fenway Ford and part-time in 2018, garnering four top-five and 13 top-10 finishes.

Bayne’s racing career began at age five racing go-karts for eight years and winning three world championships, more than 300 feature wins and 18 state and track titles. He transitioned to the Allison Legacy Race Series, notching 14 wins, 19 pole positions and 30 top-five finishes in just 41 starts. Bayne claimed the Allison Legacy Race Series national championship in 2005 and became the youngest top rookie in series history in 2004. From there, moved to the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series Southern Division, becoming the youngest driver in history to earn top rookie honors at 15 years old.

That success led to a driver development deal in 2008 with Dale Earnhardt Inc. (DEI), for whom he competed in the ARCA Menards Series East and finished fourth in the point standings. The following year, Bayne made his debut in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and later in the season landed a deal with Michael Waltrip Racing to compete in 14 more races. Despite running a partial schedule, Bayne scored two top-10 and seven top-15 finishes.

Bayne campaigned a full Xfinity Series schedule for the first time in 2010, running the first 28 races for Diamond Waltrip Racing and the final part of the season for Roush Fenway Racing. He finished seventh in the point standings on the strength of three pole positions, six top-five and 11 top-10 finishes. He also ran a full Xfinity schedule in 2013 and 2014 for Roush Fenway Racing and finished sixth in the point standings in both seasons before transitioning to his first fulltime Cup Series season for the organization in 2015.

Bayne’s NASCAR Cup Series debut came in 2010 at Texas Motor Speedway for Wood Brothers Racing. Three months later, in February 2011, he won the Daytona 500 before going on to continue to drive the No. 21 Wood Brothers entry in 16 Cup Series races in 2012.

Bayne resides in Knoxville with his wife, Ashton, and five children, Elizabeth, Levi, Luka, Jude and Jett. He is active in mission outreach, including several mission trips to Mexico with Back2Back Ministries, and credits his faith for helping him navigate the overnight success he experienced with his Daytona 500 win, as well as his 2013 multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

Bayne resides in Knoxville with his wife, Ashton, and five children, Ellie, Levi, Luca, Jude and Jett. He is active in his local church and ministries like Motor Racing Outreach and Back2Back Ministries and credits his faith with helping him navigate the ups and downs in life, whether the overnight success he experienced in his Daytona 500 win, or the lows of being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2013.

In his spare time, Bayne enjoys fitness, specifically road biking and running, and in 2016, he competed in the Ireland Ironman 70.3. He and his family live on a farm, where they raise cows, chickens, bees and produce, and where Bayne often can be found on a tractor tending to the land. Additionally, he enjoys hunting and public speaking. You may follow him on X (formerly Twitter) at @TBayne6.
