Expected back after break Tella was not in the squad for Saturday's match against Manchester City because of a groin injury, but manager Ralph Hasenhuttl expects him back after the break.

Impact Tella was receiving more time of late and that led to a groin issue, something that shouldn't keep him out long. Prior to the injury, he'd started six of eight matches and figures to have a bigger role going into the second half of the season.

Signs new Saints deal Tella has signed a new, three-and-a-half-year deal with Southampton, keeping him there until 2025.

Impact Tella appears on the edge of a breakout any time he can get on the pitch, but he's been unable to string together starts. He had seven starts from 18 appearances last season and has five starts in eight appearances of the current campaign with most of those coming in the past month. In his last four starts, he has nine shots and three chances created.

Impact Tella seemed to provide a spark whenever on the pitch, but that intensity led to a few muscle issues and it also meant he could never play a full 90. He'll aim to show some balance next season and provide Southampton with a little more on the score-sheet. Soon to be 22 years old (in July), he has more room to improve.
