Impact Sulemana made it just 35 minutes before being forced off with an injury. The forward was the second Southampton forward to be forced off with an injury. Sulemana made 10 starts in the Championship and is expected to play a rotational role in the attack if he can return to fitness.

Impact Mara picked up the knock in the 23rd minutes of the friendly and was forced off the pitch. The forward is expected to take a rotational role without really competing for starts but this injury is certainly a setback nonetheless. Mara will hope it proves to be a minor issue that he can recover from before the Premier League kicks off.

Ben Brereton - Transfers to Southampton Brereton Diaz has completed a transfer to Southampton from Villarreal, his new club annouced.
Impact Brereton Diaz is heading back to the Premier League following his loan spell with Sheffield United last season, with the attacker now set to join Southampton on a four-year contract. He is coming off a slightly strange season, as he only saw two starts in 14 appearances with Villarreal before his loan spell saw him start in all 14 games with Sheffield United. In those 14 starts, he notched six goals on 35 shots and one asisst on eight chances created. That said, he is likely to see solid time with the Saints, probably fighting for a starting spot to begin the campaign.

Adam Armstrong - Signs new Saints deal Armstrong is set to remain with Southampton after agreeing on a new three-year deal with the team.
Impact Armstrong was instrumental in Southampton's return to the Premier League, scoring the game-winning goal against Leeds United to secure promotion. He started 47 of 49 games, scoring 24 goals and adding 13 assists, one of the best individual performances in the EFL. He is poised to return to the PL for the first time since the 2022/23 season in hopes for redemption following a poor campaign his last time out, when he scored only two goals in 30 appearances, starting 14 games.

Impact Downes was sent on loan to Southampton after a disappointing seaso with the hammers the season prior. In the EFL, the midfielder recorded 34 starts in 36 appearances, logging in two goals with three assists on 69 tackles (42 won), 50 interceptions and 22 clearances. With the Saints' promotion back to the PL, he is set to keep his role on the team ahead of the new season.

Yukinari Sugawara - Joining Southampton Sigawara has agreed on a four year deal with Southampton from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.
Impact Sugawara will play in the Premier League for the first time in his career after spending the last years with AZ Alkmaar. Last season in the Eredivisie, the defender made all 30 starts, scoring four times with seven assists, having been one of the top players on the team. His signing will bring help to the back line for the Saints, who makes their return to the PL for the 2024/25 campaign.
